Inter 0-3 AC Milan (1-4 agg): SempreMilan watchalong and live commentary

AC Milan are taking on Inter in the decisive Coppa Italia semi-final this evening, hoping to secure their ticket to the final. Join us for the watchalong with Lorenzo as well as the live commentary from San Siro.

As the first leg ended 1-1, there is no advantage to talk about for this game, other than the fact that Inter are the designated home side. It makes some difference with there being more Nerazzurri fans, of course, but in the grand scheme of things it’s not huge.

Once again, as we saw against Atalanta, Sergio Conceicao has opted for zero changes as far as the starting eleven goes. This means that Luka Jovic has been given the nod up front as opposed to Tammy Abraham, who appeared nailed on to start this game.

In any case, you can join Lorenzo for the SempreMilan watchalong this evening, and we also have our live commentary as always. Hopefully, we will have a good result to celebrate at the end of it all, even the Rossoneri would still have to beat Bologna in the final…

  1. Pavlovic carries the ball from defense to attack, Fofana in the manner of Beetlejuice just hanging around 30m from enemy goal instead of falling back and covering for Pavlovic. Then he jogs to defense during Inter counter. And this is a coach fault? Yeah right…

    1. Yep, excellent cross, and overall a very good display so far. Pavlovic is also playing well, just like Fofana. Rafa and Pulisic not so bright, tough.

      1. Indeed. I was not so impressed by Fofana but i’m at work so i had to look away from the game for a couple of instances. Rafa and Theo are instagram starlets and we need to sell them while they still have some value. Give us men who die for the ball and want to prove themselves

  2. Defense playing well vs Inter buildups. but we’re being caught off balance in possession change when we lose the ball midfield.

  3. This whole management owes Jovic and apology for basically trying to use him as a sale pawn. Bro is the only reliable box poacher we’ve got, and always puts in a shift full effort

    1. He has an amazing first touch, pretty solid play with back to the goal, and good passing and finishing. I already mentioned fox in the box. And he is banging a hell of a babe lol, what else do we need from a striker?

  4. It’s really a bizarre situation, I confess that I was a great enthusiast of Santi Gimenez’s signing, but the fact is that so far the guy isn’t properly delivering the goods and ‘outcast’ Jovic is so far saving the day…

    1. I’m in the same boat. I will say that give Gimenez time, he doesn’t look like a dud, I strongly believe he’ll come good next season.

But Jovic… I honestly thought he’s only here to make up the numbers. Crucially he only seemed to play well as a 2nd striker rather than a sole no.9

In this formation? Or something has changed with his play, seems he is more comfortable as the spearhead of the attack. Sure its only the coppa but Inter are widely regarded as the best in Serie A and one of the best squads in Europe.

Renew Jovic then we don’t need to splash the cash on Tammy.

      Forza Milan!

  5. Do not bail on Gimenez that quit. He moved to a new league and sometimes it takes a season to acclimate. I think he has the goods to stay here and the quality. Perhaps Conceicao is the one that’s the issue.

As far as now being 3-0 up… bittersweet after this season, but I’ll take it…

  6. Jović saved us many times last season and I’m still pis*ed at management for tricking him last summer. Imo Jović and Gimenez should be our attackers coming next season but they’ll need this team to actually deliver useful balls inside the box for them. I’d hate for Inter to snap Jović on a free.

  7. But like why can’t we play inter every single game this season? While I’m super excited about this win which is conceicaos best game yet, I wonder like why? Why couldnt we play like this all season because we have the potential. We dominated inter and madrid this year, the players are there.

    1. This team is like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. I can’t even figure it out. We don’t play the same way game after game… it comes down to mentality or something. Conceicao is probably not the person to solve it

  8. There’s clearly some serious problems of attitude on our dressroom. Technically speaking we have a good side, but… that’s it.

  9. It seems the only target of this Milan was to beat Inter anytime they play…

    Anyway, well done boys.
Hope we don’t mess up the finals.
    Forza Milan.

  11. Dear Esteemed AC Milan Fans,I urge you to reconsider how we judge our players. No player is “trash” simply because they’re underperforming. Several factors could explain their struggles:

Bad Days Happen: Like anyone, players can have off days or games. This is a normal part of life and doesn’t define their ability.

Physical or Mental Fatigue: Players may not always be at their peak physically or mentally for certain matches, affecting their performance.

Adjustment Periods: New players, like Santiago Giménez, often need time to adapt to a new club, league, or tactical system. Giménez, signed in January 2025 from Feyenoord due to his prolific Eredivisie form, initially impressed in his first three matches. However, he hasn’t scored in over two months, which is not uncommon for a player settling into Serie A’s demands.

Tactical Mismatch: Some players struggle when a team’s system doesn’t suit their style. For example, Luka Jović thrived at Eintracht Frankfurt in a two-striker system but struggled at Real Madrid, who used a single-striker setup (e.g., 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1). After moving to Fiorentina and later joining AC Milan as a free agent, Jović took time to adapt to Milan’s tactics. His recent performances show he’s finally finding his footing, proving patience can pay off.

It frustrates me when fans unfairly criticize players. When Rafael Leão excels, he’s hailed as world-class; when he struggles, he’s labeled overrated and told he should be sold. The same applies to Theo Hernández. This inconsistency in judgment is unfair and shortsighted.

Santiago Giménez faces particularly harsh criticism. Fans now call him a “poor signing” and claim we should have kept Tammy Abraham or relied solely on Jović. This echoes the treatment Álvaro Morata received, which led to his transfer request. Such knee-jerk reactions ignore the bigger picture. Giménez is a talented striker adjusting to a new environment, and his early performances showed his potential. Writing him off prematurely is unfair.

In my view, AC Milan has a squad brimming with quality. Our players are often playing as individuals rather than a cohesive unit. With the right coaching—whether from our current staff or a new manager—I believe we can become a formidable team. Uniting our talents will unlock our full potential.

Regarding calls for RedBird Capital to sell the club, I believe this is unrealistic. RedBird shows no signs of divesting, and we should instead focus on advocating for competent management, directors, and coaching. Paolo Maldini, a club legend who spent his career in our red and black jersey, is deeply missed. However, while his legacy as a player is unmatched, there are other capable technical directors available. Likewise, Sandro Tonali was a special talent, and his departure was a blow. However, his transfer brought in significant funds, enabling us to sign Christian Pulisic, Tijjani Reijnders, and Samuel Chukwueze. While Pulisic and Reijnders have been largely successful, Chukwueze’s inconsistent performances are not unusual in football transfers. Not every signing yields immediate results, and this is true for all clubs.

Let’s move forward together, supporting our players and pushing for progress. Criticize constructively, but don’t tear down those who wear our colors. Forza Milan! ❤️🖤
