CEO Giuseppe Marotta has responded to the claim from Joao Felix that Inter made a late attempt to hijack AC Milan’s move for the forward.
It was reported by both MilanNews and Calciomercato.com among other sources after the window shut that Inter came forward to try and sign the Portugal international but they were met with a clear and swift rejection.
During his press conference in which he was unveiled as a new signing, Joao Felix himself was asked if there was any truth to the speculation that the Nerazzurri initiated contacts over a potential move there.
“Yes, my agent spoke to me about it. He told me that Inter were interested. But I had already started negotiations with Milan and I already had in mind to come to Milan. I said it would be impossible, I had already decided to come here,” he said.
Speaking in an interview with DAZN before Inter’s win over Fiorentina at San Siro last night, Marotta responded to the comments made by Felix regarding their interest (comments via Footitalia).
“We didn’t initiate any negotiations. We evaluated the names circulating in the market and those who could potentially move from their clubs, but we decided to maintain our current squad. Therefore, we didn’t pursue what was an interest on our part, while maintaining respect for the player,” he said.
excuses, excuses… Inter are very fragile organization ngl
Big cheater marotta with his untrusty face.
Their spending has caught up with them as has Juve. We have built on a tight budget and finally we are coming back.
Its not too long since we had some glory in europe so players grew up wathing us win CL and dreamt about joining still want to
Isn’t it about time for him to get suspended again? I’m sure there are more dirt to to be uncovered from his actions.
Haha – usual salty response
Frankly I don’t see how Félix can fit inter. Was he supposed to rotate with Thuram/Martinez ? But he is essentially a SS while both of them are ST.
But I can’t see him play anywhere else.
This is made-up stuff. Not only Felix is unsuitable for Inzaghi’s tactics, but without Arna leaving, Inter will not get another striker. Strangely, some Milan fans want to believe this just to feel happy that Milan won a transfer race against Inter.
I really like how you keep triggering people here just with your presence. You usually are correct when commenting on the club’s decision and/or the forum reactions, but people have such a strong herd mentality and even if they agree with you, they are ready on the spot to argue with what-about-isms. Keep coming back and regards!
I try to be realistic and say things as they are. Not only here, but even on Inter forums sometimes I get strong reactions. We are all fans, but where there are problems with a team or similar things that fans might not be willing to accept, we can’t play dumb and act as if they don’t exist. Best regards to you as well!
Did Marotta reinforce at all?
Aging squad, no attacking depth. Thuram is injured, Arna is injured. Correa is irrelevant. Taremi leaves more questions than answers. Players tired. Sucic won’t join ’till the summer…
Cracks starting to show. I think at this rate I’d rather Milan faced Inter in the next CL round than Arsenal.
Inter don’t have an EPL-sized supply of money to spend. Arna and Correa will have to go before a new one has to come. Marotta and Inzaghi are not dumb; they just did not have the money to spend. It seems that the desire for the summer is Santiago Castro.
And I don’t know what you mean by “unsuitable”… Felix is an unpredictable player. Why wouldn’t Inter need a player like that where the rest of the team plays in predictable patterns?
First of all, he does not move a finger to help in defense. Secondly, he is a second striker, not the kind of player Inzaghi needs to get.
You’re going to need some ointment to treat them salty burns that Oli gave you, throwing straight facts til you literally ran out of ideas on how to twist them suit your narrative, nice try, maybe that works in your people’s forums not round here pal, not round here. I know you’re not used to that, but people be using their neurones in the rossoneri side of town Inter boy!
You’re accusing Marotta of making things up then, given that he’s the one who admitted the interest.
Are you able to tell the difference between evaluating the market opportunities and seeking to sign a player? One can see around who is available, and then decide they are not interested.
How come you’re not chastising SempreInter for publishing another article complaining about the ref? So are so full of bs
So what are you saying is “made up stuff” then? Inter were interested in Joao Felix. Your CEO confirmed it. Just because they didn’t manage to sign him doesn’t make it untrue.
The first paragraph says: “CEO Giuseppe Marotta has responded to the claim from Joao Felix that Inter made a late attempt to hijack AC Milan’s move for the forward.”
Marotta said that they just evaluated the market opportunities, and then decided to keep the current squad. An interest to see what players are available is another thing from an attempt to sign a player, let alone “hijack” Milan’s transfer. One can be interested to see what players are available, and then decide they are not interested to sign.
In other words, what is made-up stuff is the claim that Inter tried to sign Felix. It is for sure they did not, because without Arna (and Correa) leaving, there is no space (at least financially) for another attacking player. Plus Felix is not the kind of player Inzaghi wants to enhance the team.
Even Felix himself did not say that Inter tried to “hijack” his Milan transfer, as you claim in the very first paragraph. He said that Inter showed interest. During a transfer window, a club can show interest to many players, as it is part of the job. That does not mean they are trying to sign everyone of them.
That’s not what WE are claiming in the first paragraph, that’s the report that circulated from multiple sources after Joao Felix signed for Milan. But don’t just take our word for it: Felix was then asked about Inter’s attempt to sign him in his presser to which he said the following…
“Yes, my agent spoke to me about it. He told me that Inter were interested. But I had already started negotiations with Milan and I already had in mind to come to Milan. I said it would be impossible, I had already decided to come here.”
That to me sounds like Felix was aware of Inter trying to sign him while he was in talks with Milan, which is the definition of a hijack attempt. Marotta then has to try and save face by saying nothing was ever advanced, but he categorically confirmed that Inter were keen which we can all infer means they made an attempt, as the player himself said. Unless everyone involved in the story is lying, and you know more than them all?
*interest for
Then make sure to confirm the “reports” before writing articles based on them. Neither did Felix say that Inter tried to sign (or “hijack”) him, nor did Marotta say they wanted to sign him. That Inter tried to “hijack” the transfer and sign him is either your own conclusion, or the conclusions of other sites from where you probably copy-paste. Clubs ask or see around who is available; that does not mean the they are trying to sign a specific player.
You are giving the impression that Inter tried to sign him but failed. Just think for a moment: would Inter take Felix as their sixth striker, when Inzaghi plays with two?
I’m not the one giving any impression. Joao Felix is giving the impression, he said it pretty clearly so if you can’t read and comprehend that I can’t help you. You of course must be Jorge Mendes though, so an authoritative voice to deny the statement of the people actually involved in the negotiation!
Also, did Inter contact the agent or did they contact Chelsea and the agent heard something? What did Inter tell them about their interest?
I know you are good-faith and want to provide news and content about Milan, but this is just a player’s empty, vague words turned into journalistic conclusions.
No “journalistic conclusions” as your narrative tries to twist. It’s found in evidence. The player said it, Marotta confirmed the interest. But of course your bias is towards Inter who missed out on a player, so you have to try and do PR work for the club somehow.
Anyway, I can tell we aren’t getting anywhere with the conversation.
I see you are making it personal now, saying that I am an Inter fan and I am doing “PR work for the club”. I am not a kid to cry over a transfer. Clubs make transfers, compete with each other over them, and even exchange players. Inter and Milan have done it, and will do it in the future. Maybe Ricci in the summer will be their next transfer battle. That is pretty normal and nothing to feel shame about or pride of.
Since you made this personal, I can then say that you are an incompetent guy who copy-pastes whatever is written on other media to fill your click-bait blog. Cheers.
What a head loss, and all just because you were proven wrong. A real shame, you’ve let yourself down.
Ollie laying down facts while Inter nerd tries to manipulate semantics to make a point 🍿
Glad someone can see it, thought I was losing my mind 😂
An “editor-in-chief” who says to a forum participant that “if you can’t read and comprehend that I can’t help you”. haha
We thank you for your constant views and interactions 🙂
What point are you making? You in fact cannot comprehend? Or it’s ridiculous that a publisher believes in what they are messaging?
I also think it’s relevant to add in the face of your empty pontifications the fact you’re here engaging instead of participating in the ghost town known as the Sempre inter community is evidence of quality of writing/journalism and fan-ship represented here.
Congrats 👏👏 finally commented on an Inter-based article lol 😂
This guy doesn’t even comment on Sempre Inter. So telling though, notice how you only see inter fans when they are winning
I know that this unhappy kid will come here to spew nonsense as usual. You wanted to offload the wannabe Zlatan just like inter merda is wannabe Milan and he refused leaving reason for Joao Felix before you eventually got a big no.
I was just about to say 1-2-3 F̶r̶e̶d̶d̶y̶ Inter fan is coming for you.
Too fast for me I see 😀
Kidding aside whether its correct or not it wouldn’t really be the smartest of him to coorporate on it and say that they made an actual attempt as it could give the wrong impression to their own squad.
Why are you guys fighting something that already hapenned…?? Fact is, Joao is already milan player. No matter what is goin on that process. Period. 🖤❤️🖤❤️🖤❤️
Lets moving forward to De Kuip. I dont care about inter…
