The idea of losing Mike Maignan on a free transfer is difficult enough to digest, but the possibility of losing him to a major rival has now emerged.
The stand-out performance in Sunday’s derby win over Inter came from Maignan. He made an amazing save in the first half to deny Lautaro Martinez, and then inside the final 20 minutes he kept out Hakan Calhanoglu’s penalty to preserve the clean sheet and the lead.

While Milan should be happy about his return to form, the Frenchman’s deal runs out in a few months and what has emerged regarding a possible extension isn’t exactly encouraging. Nonetheless, reports suggest that the Rossoneri will try again to convince him.
Maignan: Inter and Juventus lurking
One of the sub-plots to the derby was that Milan and Inter are looking for a new starting goalkeeper, due to the Maignan and Yann Sommer contract situations. The Nerazzurri, however, might not have to look far from home for a solutoon.
Corriere della Sera (via Calciomercato.com) report that Maignan will almost certainly leave the Rossoneri on a free transfer after asking for €5.5m net per year to renew. He is a ‘big transfer dream’ for Inter, one they could actually pull off, unlike when they wanted Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Maignan may not be the type of signing Oaktree usually go for (the Frenchman is 30 years old and has a high salary), but faced with such an opportunity, they might try their hand and go for a Calhanoglu-esque coup.
Meanwhile, La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Juventus are a club to look out for in the Maignan sweepstakes. Matteo Moretto also confirmed this indiscretion during his most recent update on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel.
“I can tell you, adding another detail: the Premier League remains very attentive, but keep an eye on Juventus too. The Bianconeri have started to have this idea in mind in case Maignan doesn’t renew. Let’s keep Juventus in mind, let’s keep the Premier League in mind, but above all, let’s keep a future for Maignan that remains absolutely up in the air,” he said.
Never say never but I don’t see him going to Inter.
Also a bit curious how they keep outbidding Milan despite their finances being a total mess with the debt. Guess it’s all that UCL money.
If he doesn’t renew I’d bet England. This is his last big payday and it will be biggest there.
Their finances are not a mess, a lot of people keep talking complete nonsense year after year. Juventus as well, they are not going to be bankrupt, some people tried to convince me that if Vlahovic stays they will be done. They have a loan of 350M and they were taken over by Oaktree, a company similar to Elliot. They don’t have financial issues.
If it is true they don’t want to offer 5.5M it is a joke. I’d leave if I was Maignan but probably not to Juventus as they aren’t in a good position and are rebuilding for years now…
I don’t think he is asking for 5,5 mil, I think he is asking for at least 6,5-7 mil which is still very good and well deserved, he can go to Psg or City and get 12mil per year and we can struggle to find a good replacement
Don’t think Money is the issue here.
It’s the lack of respect Milan gave him last season when he wasn’t at his best.

If he absolutely wont renew his contract its fair enough considering AC Milan reneged on their already agreed upon offer but I would seriously start hating the fella if he were to join either Inter or Juventus.
At least do the Rossoneris the favor to not to join a direct rival Mr. Maignan. If he signs a pre contract with one of those clubs come January then I’d bench him for the remainder of his contract just in spite and let Torriani become the starter.
Don’t see him going to another Italian club for around the same salary. He’s either gonna renew or try and nab a big pay day and new adventure elsewhere.
If EPL clubs want him, they can offer a big salary and a signing bonus. That being said, apart from maybe Man Utd, I don’t see any big EPL club needing to get a new first GK.

The many Utd fans I know (I live in Manchester) are largely very happy with the job Lammens is doing. He’s young and already a massive upgrade on Onana and Altay. I don’t see this one. City are sorted. So are Chelsea but thats never stopped them before. I think Liverpool will go for him with Arsenal as an outside bet.
I should say I hope he stays, but I can’t see it at this point. Clubs can start officially approaching him in a little over a month and we are still ‘thinking’ about a new offer.

If Mike leaves, it won’t be for another Serie A team.
Not because he can’t, but because he’s already won everything he needs in Italy.
If he doesn’t renew with Milan, I can see him going to the EPL or PSG.
My guess is Liverpool will come sniffing in January. Mamad…Mam…Mamlev…their new keeper isn’t working out, and they’ll do what premier league clubs always do when they lose a couple of games – throw money down a wishing well.
He’s not going to Juve or Inter. He’s no snake – the club created this contract stand-off, not the player.
