Beppe Marotta took yet another swipe at AC Milan as his war of words with owner Gerry Cardinale continues out in the open.
As a reminder, Cardinale was asked in a recent interview about the state of Italian football, given that the RedBird Capital founder has gone on record before expressing his concern about a failure to modernise the system. In his assessment, he aimed a bit of a jab at Inter and their 5-0 loss to PSG.

Marotta’s response wasn’t long in coming. The Inter president didn’t mince his words in his interview with DAZN before Inter’s game against Verona at San Siro on Sunday, pointing to the trophies the Nerazzurri have won in the past six years.
‘The only club with two stars’
Now, Marotta has once again taken aim at Milan. As part of the title celebrations that Inter are currently enjoying, an open training session was held on Thursday at the Arena Civica during which he spoke to DAZN and Sky.
“It’s a special evening. We wanted, as I said, to hold it in this arena that is the icon of the city, because we are the city’s team, the only club with two stars in the city of Milan. We’re the only ones here, and that’s a source of pride,” he said (via Calciomercato.com).
Milan remain ahead of their cousins on overall trophies won and have a huge gap in Champions League triumphs, but over recent years the distance has been eroded significantly.
So, Marotta, remind us again how many UCL victories Inter has compared to Milan… And say that with a straight face while looking straight at the camera. Oh you can’t? 😂😂😂😂😂
And it actually shouldn’t even be “only” 7-3 but 8-3 (have in mind olympique marseille’s doping in ’93, everybody used in the final(s) except for just that one player who decided to speak about it openly, bravo for Rudi Voller and that crucial testimony of his) if not even 8-1 for us in fact, believe it or not…
Marseille scandal had nothing to do with doping.
It had to do with match-fixing, I know, but 10 out of 11 players were using doping, don’t lecture me if you are not informed properly. It’s was only Berlusconi’s and Galliani’s decision not to take this further, it’s a shame, they didn’t deserve to lift that trophy at all.
The doping accusations surrounding Olympique de Marseille’s 1993 Champions League victory are closely tied to the infamous domestic match-fixing scandal (VA-OM) that occurred the same year.
While Marseille was officially punished for bribery in their domestic league, the doping claims remain a highly publicized controversy stemming from the era:
The Revelations: In the years following the 1993 Champions League final (where Marseille defeated AC Milan 1-0), several former players—most notably Jean-Jacques Eydelie, Marcel Desailly, and Tony Cascarino—made allegations of systemic doping.
Suspected Substances: Players alleged they were given mysterious pills and unauthorized intravenous injections by club president Bernard Tapie. Eydelie specifically claimed that all players received injections, with the exception of Rudi Völler. Tapie later admitted to the use of Captagon, a stimulant.
Marseille’s triumph remains controversial due to accusations of doping alleged by Marcel Desailly, Jean-Jacques Eydelie, Chris Waddle and Tony Cascarino. According to Eydelie, “all (of them) took a series of injections” in the 1993 Champions League final, except Rudi Völler. Desailly and Cascarino claimed that club president Bernard Tapie distributed pills and injections himself. In an interview with French magazine Le Point, Jean-Pierre de Mondenard said Marseille had a blackboard in their team locker room that read “injections for everyone”. Tapie only admitted that some players took captagon.
Cascarino also revealed that during his time at Marseille, he and many other of the club’s players were injected by club president Bernard Tapie’s personal physician with an unknown substance. The physiotherapist at the time insisted the substance was legal and would provide an “adrenaline boost”. Cascarino said most players accepted the injections and that “it definitely made a difference: I felt sharper, more energetic, hungrier for the ball”. He also later admitted suffering from depression.
Milan have been robbed of (at least) 5 “scudetti” (1972, 1973, 2005, 2006 & 2012- not to mention how much titles we would have been able to win had we not been stopped) while their “scudetto” from 2006. is a complete joke and Inter’s trophy only on paper; in addition to that robbery, their 3 “scudetti” in the 60’s are very debatable to say the least (doping (Herrera) was put in players’ coffees, notorious case) and don’t you ever dare to forget 2 recent “scudetti” (2008. and 2010.) when they robbed Roma so obviously. In the end, they stole 2 CL (EC) (1964. and 1965.) as well (fixing/rigging in direct cooperation and colussion with the referees, one more notorious example of their “honesty”), they are far from some decent club as they so much love to present themselves to us…

And not just 2006. That whole calciopoli era is pretty questionable.
After the 2006 scudetto they were awarded after actually finishing third they won the next 4 because they were the only big Italian club not punished with points deductions or even outright relegation.
Took the rest of Serie A those 5 years to catch back up. Corrupt.
Like I said, not to mention how much titles we would have been able to win had we not been stopped. We can also talk about the 2006/07 season despite the fact that Inter had 97 points that year and would’ve won the title anyway but that deduction gave them the boost they needed and it didn’t just stop there, unfortunately…
