Italian journalist says Inter and Milan must ‘look to the future’ amid San Siro discussions

By Euan Burns -

Italian journalist Matteo Marani has said that AC Milan and Inter must look to the future when it comes to deciding whether to move away from San Siro or not.

Speaking whilst on Sky Sport (via Milan News), Marani agreed that the current stadium occupied by the two Milanese clubs is historic and magnificent, but they cannot ignore the fact that they need an up to date ground to keep up with the times.

“I believe that the two Milanese clubs cannot avoid having a new stadium. History is important, San Siro is a magnificent stadium that we all love, but we have to look to the future,” Marani said.

The two sides have seemed destined to build a new stadium for many years now but various bureaucratic measures and the project itself have caused huge delays.

There is now a serious chance that the clubs could abandon the San Siro area and build their new shared stadium in a different part of the city.

Sesto San Giovanni is one area that has been touted as suitable and the mayor of the municipality is certainly interested.
