Report: Investcorp happy to meet Benfica’s demands for Darwin Nunez

By Oliver Fisher -

Investcorp are still optimistic about completing the acquisition of AC Milan in the coming weeks and they already have a target in mind, a report claims.

Widespread reports have claimed that the Bahrain-based fund are leading the race to buy Milan from Elliott Management although they have competition in the form of American fund RedBird Capital, with nothing to suggest that either are very close to closing at the moment.

One of the things that could convince Elliott is if the prospective buyer produces proof that they have an ambitious project in mind, because the Singer family will only sell if they are confident the club will be in good hands after all their hard work clearing debts and cleaning up the accounts.

Rudy Galetti cites sources ‘very close to Investcorp’s management’ in stating that Milan are ready to meet Benfica’s demands for their striker Darwin Nunez. The Uruguay international would be offered a very tempting contract to try to convince him to join the Rossoneri.

The 22-year-old is one of the most in-demand strikers in Europe right now as he has 34 goals in just 41 appearances this season, including six goals in 10 Champions League games.

  1. Look man we all know very well Elliot cares about Money way more than it cares about us. Otherwise we would’ve been sold. If Elliot doesn’t wanna sell then it should atleast some ambition in the transfer market instead of being all stingy.

If this report is legit let’s just hope Elliot is ready to sanction our sale to Investcorp and not to their fellow Americans Redbird. Rather than going to Redbird I’d stay under Elliot as it’s pretty much going to be the same.

  2. Well said. Elliot like any other investment firm only cares about satisfying their shareholders thus making them the most profit. Period. Elliot are just negotiating trying to squeeze every last nickel out of Investcorp. I do believe Investcorp is the best path forward simply because they will build us our own stadium which is paramount in todays game and essential for economic survival. Nunez signing would demonstrate how ambitious they want to be. Fingers crossed

    1. Elliott has been trying to build a stadium but Italian bureaucracy makes it impossible.
As any other seller it will look for the best and highest offer, but fans should not forget what Elliott did for Milan. The club was in the basement when they took over and now it’s stable financially and a point away from being Champions.
I think and hope they will leave Milan in better hands than what Berlusconi did.

      1. But they have protected their investment. Yes, it was good, but it was the only thing an investment fund can do when they get something without even making an offer to buy. Of course they didn’t let it go to even worse state before trying to sell.

  3. This will never happen. This Rudy Galetti guy is a hoax. As to buyers I am skeptical as to the direction in which football is moving with owners who are only interested in taking out profits when they buy clubs. In that sense I am more in favour of Investcorp, but investors from these countries are usually morally suspect in so many ways. So too are Redbird, but to a lesser degree…

  4. First to come first served, investors are very much concern with good faith to take over Mighty Milan. They wanted to take AC Milan to a great level that polo maldini and massari are wanted to build Milan. Let Elliott sale Milan to the investors I’m 100% sure you’ll all appreciate them. Just think about it…

  5. Elliot doesn’t care about Milan they tried to get the maximum out of the most, they penny pinched on salaries and let players go for free who totalled over 100m because they wanted them off their books all to look better for a sale. Maldini, Massara, and Pioli have done wonders or this side and it’s a miracle we can win the scudetto this year if all goes well this weekend.

That said, Nunez is the perfect striker for us. I only wish we also would buy Belotti for free rather than Origi. Yet we always go foreign strictly because of this shitty tax decree.

  6. Yall complain about Elliot so much and dont give them credit. Slowly they’ve cleared debts and put Milan on the map again, unlike the chinese owner. Plastic fans.

    1. I think the problem is that you don’t understand some things. They have cleared debts and got Milan up to get more profit. Nobody said they didn’t pick the staff to run Milan well, but they weren’t doing that because they care about the club or for some other pathetic made up reason. They will make more money like this.

      1. the problem is you want to support PSG and dont have the balls to go and do that and want to turn Milan into a reckless spending club like that

        screw you

  7. Let’s just hope investcorp win bid auction from redbird. Maybe in future they buy Darwin . 3 striker should be Darwin ( starter) with Origi and giroud as rotation back up. Just stop Linked AC Milan with over Rated belotti and scamacca

    1. Reccaman youre so racist v italians, seen you always post always negative things about every italian player linked. Funny you even support an Italian based team. Really weird actually. Either way you are entitled to your opinion just weird.

      1. Racist vs Italians? Do you know what the word racist means @ zoro caloro? Lol. Just because someone thinks one player is better than another doesn’t make them racist my friend. Football is a global game not regional. The truth is Italy doesn’t have world class strikers. Haven’t for a long time IMO. World glass defenders, mids, goalkeeper – yes. Even winger (Chiesa is a star). But a number 9?? No. Immobile, Belotti, Scamacca (not yet), etc…Maldini knows this otherwise he would sign Belotti no problem – but he knows what everyone but you do – Belotti is just not good enough for the type of team we are trying to build. Trust in Maldini and Massars my friend they have gotten us this far…

        1. @Juro and Reccaman,

Zoro Caloro is Belotti fanboy. He should stop being sentimental and face the reality. How anyone can hype this rusty Belotti this much is beyond my understanding.

      2. If AC Milan are Linked with chiesa as RW, i Will support the media. But if just Berardi, scamacca, belotti then it is wasting time. Paolo Maldini choose Origi than scamacca/belotti ,why would you insist want belotti? If you want so badly sign Berardi, scamacca, belotti then go apply as AC Milan DS replace paolo Maldini. Scamacca asking price 40m euro , do you think AC Milan Will stupid buy him that much just because he is Italian? Better buy Darwin Nunez that far more superior than scamacca/belotti

  8. Mr nidja, Please stop destroying the image of Nigeria more, you are the type of people that sell this country, you went to the extent of lieing about a mother and a child…..I am a Nigerian but I am ashamed of you, you have no class, integrity or self respect, SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!!!!

  9. All stingy, yet Milan are competing for the scudetto for 2 years running now? Look it’s not overspending that gives you results. At least Milan have given other top serie a clubs something to think about. But planning, right execution, being prudent, e.t.c. Which is what Milan are actually doing.

    1. Yeah, but you also need to get lucky when you don’t have an AMC and a striker that can play over 20 matches in a season. We had luck with injuries because if Giroud got injured late in the season we wouldn’t have anyone to play but the new kid. RW was average at best. To be honest, it is really a miracle if they win the title and Pioli needs to be rewarded for that. But you can compare the German league and see how did other clubs go against Bayern that spends much more. So yeah, it is cool to buy cheap and young players, but you don’t win titles for years in a row and play in the finals of champions league like that.

  10. Probably the best striker we can get. If we will really spend 200M with Investcorp like I’ve read then we can go for him and fill up other positions nicely.
