MN: Investcorp and RedBird locked in a battle to buy AC Milan – the latest

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s takeover by Investcorp looked like it was almost all completed, but now the situation has become far more complicated due to the emergence of RedBird as a competitor.

MilanNews journalist Antonio Vitiello confirms in his column that RedBird are attempting a hijack on Investcorp and the American fund are looked at with interest by the current ownership of Milan, because they have already invested in Liverpool, Toulouse, NBA, NHL and MLB (basketball, ice hockey and baseball).

This shows that they are already a serious player in the sporting world and while their offer is slightly lower than that of Investcorp, they have a chance of winning the race.

The Bahrain-based Investcorp are now beyond the the month of exclusivity granted, and they have proposed a financial structure to buy Milan that does not completely convince Elliott because there would be some potential debt involved.

Both Investcorp and RedBird are still in the process of trying to buy AC Milan and at the end of the season we will have a clearer picture.
