Simone Inzaghi confirmed during a press conference yesterday that Al-Hilal are working on the signing of Theo Hernandez, who is destined to leave AC Milan this summer.

The Saudi Arabian side applied heavy pressure on Milan and Hernandez ahead of the Club World Cup, offering around €30m to the Rossoneri and €18m per year to the player. However, as the Frenchman said no, the move never materialised before the deadline.

Al-Hilal haven’t given up on Hernandez, though, as contacts remain alive. Milan also know that it’s their best opportunity of cashing in a decent sum for the left-back, whose contract will expire next year. The offers from Atletico Madrid, for example, didn’t even reach €20m.

During a press conference yesterday, ahead of Al-Hilal’s clash against RB Salzburg, Inzaghi was asked about the transfer window. In addition to saying that the team will be reinforced, he seemingly confirmed that Hernandez remains a target for the club.

“I have excellent players. But to improve the team, the club directors are moving. They wanted to do it before the World Cup, but they didn’t succeed because time was tight. Theo Hernandez? The club are working,” he stated as cited by Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below).
