Italian agent shares thoughts on ‘excellent’ Pulisic and Milan’s mercato

By Isak Möller -

The pre-season has officially begun and AC Milan are working hard on the transfer market to reinforce the squad. After Sportiello, Loftus-Cheek and Romero, Pulisic is next in line with medicals tomorrow.

The Rossoneri’s squad is shaping up pretty well, although more signings are still needed ahead of what will be a tough season. Enough information has surfaced to make a prediction for it, though, and betting through W88 could come in handy.

The well-known agent Beppe Accardi was interviewed by MilanNews and shared his thoughts on Milan’s mercato thus far. He urged the Rossoneri to push for Alvaro Morata and also praised the management for landing Christian Pulisic from Chelsea.

Who would you prefer between Morata and Scamacca?

“I have no doubts: I’m taking Morata for life.”

Has Milan’s mercato convinced you so far?

“There have been important movements. I will say that, to judge properly, we have to wait for the end of the summer. In general, as we have seen on other fronts, American owners primarily look to keep accounts and balance sheet in order.”

What is your judgment on Pulisic?

“What can I say? He’s arriving from Chelsea, he did well in the Premier League. He is an excellent player who will improve Milan, without a shadow of a doubt.”

For the midfield, the pressing for Musah and Reijnders is significant…

“They are two players who have done well in their respective clubs and, rightfully so, they are of interest to Milan as well as other big teams. If they were to join the Rossoneri, they would offer Pioli more tactical solutions. From two, for example, you can switch to three in midfield and build the game differently.”

Last year Pioli used both a four-man and a three-man defence, whereas this year we could see the alternation between a 4-2-3-1 and a 4-3-3. This is a direct result of the strategy adopted on the mercato by the management.

During his press conference on day one of the preseason yesterday, Pioli said: “There could also be tactical innovations to have greater advantages. A lot will also depend on the characteristics who will arrive. With players of quality and intelligence, new things can be done.”

It remains to be seen if the management will get the players they will after, with AZ Alkmaar playing hardball in the negotiations over Tijjani Reijnders. Optimism is filtering from Casa Milan, both regarding the signings and the future.
