Di Marzio: Italiano a candidate for Milan again despite internal ‘difference of opinion’

Gianluca Di Marzio has suggested that AC Milan could make a move for Vincenzo Italiano if they do decide to change coach.

There is a lot of speculation surrounding Milan at the crucial point in the season once again, just as there was in each of the past few seasons. May is rarely ever kind to the Rossoneri, at least when it comes to attempting to establish some kind of stability.

With the team in a tailspin and looking likely to drop out of the Champions League places as things stand, talk of an overhaul in the managerial department has once again popped up, with Igli Tare, Massimiliano Allegri and Giorgio Furlani all mentioned as being under threat.

Di Marzio spoke on Caffè Di Marzio – the podcast in collaboration between TMW and Gianlucadimarzio.com – spoke about the situations at Milan and Fiorentina. That was after he relaunched Fabio Paratici as a possible director candidate.

Italiano a possibility again

“Milan are the product of problems and critical issues, including internal ones. There’s now a lot of protest against Giorgio Furlani, but I have to say that we’re seeing a bit of a repeat of last year’s climate, when Milan lost the Coppa Italia final to Bologna and only after that defeat did they decide to sign Tare and Allegri,” the journalist said.

“Otherwise, they would have continued with a different program, perhaps even hiring Italiano, and it’s not a given that Italiano won’t arrive next [this] summer. There’s a difference of opinion within the club that definitely needs to be clarified once and for all so that Milan can move forward, Champions League or not, with a transparent management and, above all, without internal differences.

“Fiorentina, however, now has the obligation to plan ahead, clarifying once and for all, if possible, whether Paratici will be sporting director next season or not, regardless of his very long contract.

“Because rumours continued to circulate about both Roma and Milan last night, it’s unclear whether, should new offers arrive, Paratici will decide to leave, and whether Fiorentina will allow him to leave, especially after a far-sighted program has been built around him, both publicly and in the media, to build something that wasn’t built this year.”

  1. If we had hired De zerbi when he was waiting on us, maybe we’d be batter off by now. I know for sure we’d be playing a better type of football. But alas we decided to go for the not so obvious.

I just hope we qualify for champions league, but by all means, Alegri should be gone.

    1. De Zerbi? What the hell are you smoking? De Zerbi would have been the worse choice for Milan.

As a matter of fact it’s better if De Zerbi name is not mentioned because he’s not a good coach and he’s only good for mediocre clubs. Smh

  2. If they’re going to replace Tare, they need to do it ASAP and not drag that drama until August when all the good players have already been signed elsewhere. It’s not like the new SD will be able to start building the new team and negotiate new transfers the next day he signs his contract.

We all know that but the real question is: does The Dumb Banker know that?

  3. Pavlovic either needs to be tried as LB or sell him for profit to get quality RB. But I guess Dodo (until 2027) becomes the obvious choice in our case. I might even argue to upgrade one of the CB (Tomori) with Lucumi (also until 2027).

    Barte – Tomori??? – Gila – ???
    ??? – Gabbia – DeWinter – Athekame

Midfield looks better only Goretzka for free should be enough; but if he was Allegri’s choice then management might need to find someone else.

    Rabiot
    Nkunku

    Modric – Fofana
    Ricci – Jashari/???

    Finally attack,

    Leao – ??? – Pulisic
    ??? – Gimenez – Saelemakers

we would need cover for Leao (Diaz reunion? Has contract with Real until 2027), and at least 1 striker. Sorloth might be a good addition to Gimenez for competition with main N9.

IN: Gila, Lucumi, Dodo, CM, Brahim Diaz, ST
OUT: Tomori, Pavlovic, Odogu(on loan), Estupinan, RLC

  4. Nothing will change as long as Redbird is in control. Doesn’t matter if you have Italiano or Pep, Tare or Maldini. If you don’t let the football people make football decisions, then it’s not really a football club.

  5. Here we are, the first steps of the next disaster. 😂 As always, everyone’s at fault, but Napoleon, he is Gerry’s puppet after all. Can’t wait for the coach who finished behind us even LAST YEAR to build a competitive team with recruitment from Moncada. 😂 Then again, tourists like new players and coaches, it’s shiny, and they’re the only fans The Infamous care about.

Whoever criticized Allegri this season for a bad run of games after 8 months of overperforming, be prepared for pure comedy gold next year. I even see Farioli in the mix – his title failure with Ajax is argubaly worse than Deportivo and Istanbul combimed, but I’m sure it was just bad luck and he will have massive success in Milan.

    1. This is delusional. Defending Allegri? overperforming for 8 months? You have to be joking. I think you mean his luck of somehow getting results while being completely outplayed finally ran out. Milan were very lucky in the first half of this season. They managed to win some games where they played badly, being bailed out by Maignan on a few occasions while scoring goals with very few chances created. That was never sustainable and it was always going to even itself out, which it has now.
You cannot continue to get results when the performances are so bad. I can’t think of more than 3 games all season when the team actually looked good while winning.
No European play, out of the Supercoppa early, out of Copa Italia early. Playing one game a week and finishing top 4 with this squad should not be difficult.

      1. You don’t compete for the title until late February (against a much stronger team, mind you) simply by luck. If that were the case, why didn’t we fight for top 4 last season? Hell, we had a much fitter Pulisic, a much fitter Leao and plenty of attacking options which proved to be our main issue this season. We won games with luck back then too, but ended up 8th. We may have not been fun to watch under Allegri, but at least we got the results without suffering. Sure, we weren’t dominant, but who dominated us? I’m not talking about possession, but actual chances. I can only think of Como and Roma away which were Mike’s best games of the season and literally every team depends on their keeper in such moments. He saved a penalty against Inter that shouldn’t have been given in the first place, beside that they weren’t hurting us with anything else. Recognizing your weakness is a sign of a smart coach and it’s exactly what Allegri did for the first part of the season. We have mid-table team defenders and fullbacks, our midfield without one of Modric and Rabiot is mediocre and we have one of the worst attacks I’ve ever seen. You can blame it on Allegri all you want, but these are professional players who can’t score clear chance even if their life depended on it. The squad was once again badly structured by the ridiculous management, asking for more points that we have right now is beyond unrealistic.

        1. There are not 4 teams in Serie A with a stronger squad than Milan. There are no excuses for Allegri.
Como does not have a stronger squad. Roma does not have a stronger squad.
Inter yes. Napoli yes. Juventus maybe. That’s it.

  6. There is also supposedly a difference of opinion on keeping Allegri, and there is seemingly a difference of opinion on every player we make moves for.

A committee without a plan will always disagree.

  7. the coach isn’t so important. I think much more important is revolution in the squad. let’s kick off Leao and several other players…

  8. Kembalikan The Legend Rossoneri. CARDINALE,FURLANI, SCARLONI, DAN MANAJEMEN TERENDAH HARUS OUT DARI MILAN. MEREKA SEMUA TIDAK PUNYA AMBISI MEMBAWA MILAN MENJADI MENTAL JUARA. TAPI MEREKA SEMUANYA HANYA MEMBAWA MILAN SEBAGAI BISNIS UNTUK KEPENTINGAN CARDINALE, FURLANI DAN MANAJEMEN LAINNYA
