Italiano believes Fiorentina ‘matched Milan’ in defeat: “The game was very balanced”

By Oliver Fisher -

Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Italiano has heaped praise on AC Milan for the season that they are having and revealed that he wants Stefano Pioli to win the Scudetto.

Milan created a number of fantastic scoring chances at the beginning of both the first and the second half but several players did not take the opportunities that arose, which meant for a very nervy conclusion to the game.

The Rossoneri had to wait until the 82nd minute before their winning goal came, just a week after Sandro Tonali scored a 92nd-minute winner against Lazio. This time Rafael Leao was the hero as he seized a poor pass from Pietro Terracciano to stroll into the box and finish.

Italiano spoke to the reporters who gathered at San Siro for his post-match press conference and he reflected on the defeat that his side suffered but also , with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

“We keep the bar straight as we have done in these two days in front of the first class. Today Fiorentina matched Milan, especially in the first half. In front of 80 thousand people, in front of a team fighting for an extraordinary goal, the game was very balanced,” he said.

“Terracciano this year has had great matches. He played many balls with good quality, except one that arrived in the feet of the wrong player. There is no problem, the goalkeeper has always responded well. Four games ago he played another and there was an uproar, no enough, come on, let’s go to the next one.”

Fiorentina stood up to Milan: when will they find a balance?

“Every match has a different story. We have been the same as today all year, trying to propose what we saw today. With Salernitana and Udinese we lost attention without the ball, but today we have found it again.”

What Milan did you find?

“Different game than the first leg. We had great concreteness scoring 4 goals. Milan had put us in great difficulty, today great balance. I see a concentrated Milan, this stadium can push anyone to great goals. Milan are a great team: Rebic, Ibrahimovic and Krunic enter. I wish Pioli good luck because he is a great person.”

  1. Fiorentina did play shockingly well. If it wasn’t for magic Mike, who knows what could’ve happened.

But the win was well deserved for us. Our Boys showed their class in the second half, and the tactical changes by Mr. Pioli was perfect.

    Forza Milan.

    1. what’s shocking bruv? Italiano is a good coach. If he gains experience like Pioli he would be wayyy better than him.

  2. I wouldn’t say Fiorentina did well. We created several good opportunities to score. Leao and Giroud could make it 2:0 within the first half only.
If there were no single header from Fiorentina, there’s nothing to say about them. We kept them shut.
