AC Milan take on Red Star Belgrade tomorrow night, and it is fair to say that their opposition deeply respects the Rossoneri.
Despite falling on hard times this season, and maybe you could argue last season too, Milan still have a reputation as one of the best teams in the world. In terms of legacy and quality, few teams rank higher than the Diavolo.
Of course, you would be forgiven for not truly believing this after the start that the Rossoneri have had this season, but the point still stands regardless of this.
However, this does not make Milan invincible, far from it. As we have already seen in the Champions League, and Serie A to some lengths, the Rossoneri can caught napping on occasions, and they have been made to pay for this regularly, including last time out in the competition.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of the clash, Mirko Ivanic spoke about the quality which the Rossoneri possess and what has changed in the four years since their last meeting, his words have been relayed by Milan News.
You already played here at San Siro against Milan four years ago…
“I remember this match, it was an excellent match. We were a team, I hope we will play like this tomorrow too. We hope so tomorrow too, even if we are playing against one of the strongest teams in the world. In Italy, we have already played well, but teams like Milan punish you for every little mistake.”
How much stronger is Milan than four years ago?
“It’s difficult to compare, although you can say that Milan is stronger and so are we. Then here we play in the Champions League, there it was the Europa League, so they will play with the best team. We are ready, we have great experience. The match against Stuttgart meant a lot to us.”
What do you think of Pavlovic?
“They are a very strong team, it is difficult to speak about anyone, especially in attack they are fantastic. They have a very good attack and a very good defence.”
