CM: January agreement and Mendes’ advice – the latest on Renato Sanches

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan remain the team on pole to land Renato Sanches from Lille in the summer window and some background has emerged, a report claims.

According to Calciomercato.com, Renato Sanches will leave Lille before the 2022-23 season because he wants to try a new experience and he communicated that decision to the management of the Ligue 1 club while they were trying to extend his deal beyond the current 2023 deadline.

Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara really like the 24-year-old and they worked hard to bring him to Milan in January, and they found an agreement with Lille at around €20m plus various bonuses, which certainly bodes well for the summer too.

Despite the player’s total approval, the midfielder is taking time as per the advice of his agent Jorge Mendes, who was not convinced by the salary offer that the Diavolo put forward. Milan agreed with Mendes that they would talk about the deal in the coming weeks, but he wants listen to all the offers that are coming from English and Italian clubs (Juventus among them).

Milan remain on pole because they already have an understanding with Lille but is waiting for signals from the player. Maldini was clear though in that the Rossoneri will only join players motivated by the club’s project.

  1. Transfer fee not problem. But it seems player himself want to pick highest salary among the club that interesting. It is better not to participate on salary auction since his injury record ini last 3 season . Better prepare plan B like kamara or fofana
