GdS: ‘If it were up to him, he’d stay’ – January exit possible for Theo despite wishes

AC Milan are in a difficult situation regarding Theo Hernandez and despite the wishes of the player, he may leave before the summer, a report has suggested.

This season has been Theo’s worst in a Milan shirt by some distance. Before the season began, he created problems with his words about his future in the summer, contradicting the words of the second most senior member of the football club – Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Since then, he has regularly been involved in problems on the pitch, and there has been a constant lack of something from him. In the past, his flaws have been nullified by his far superior strengths, but this is not the case this season and the Frenchman is not Theo.

For this reason, talks about a new contract are difficult – the Rossoneri cannot offer a similar contract to Leao when there are no signs of the player that was once perhaps deserving of those figures. So this opens up problems.

With his contract expiring in 2026, Milan must act quickly with his value already dropping, and we cannot rule out a premature sale, as Gazzetta dello Sport writes.

The situation hangs in the balance, reliant on the offers that will probably arrive in January, but definitely in June. A difficult sale mid-season of course, with Theo also wanting to stay if ‘it were up to him’. However, the conditions are there for a sale, and unless things change, then they will have to be considered.

  1. Sensationalist reporting. Theo will stay, and in January we will gamble on some cheap substitute that will hopefully allow him to get a breather here and there.

  2. If Milan were to sell Hernandez for about 50-80m we should replace him with Robinson or Martinez Gutierrez (ideally Robinson) for about 25-35m and spend the rest on upgrading the rest of the team

  3. Milan management really need to look into Diego Leon as Thoe backup or replacement if he had to leave or be sold.

Diego Leon is Paraguay player very physically, speed, making skills and scoring ability and also push forward just like Thoe.

    1. He is only 17 years old and will first turn 18 in April so he wouldn’t be able to join us before the summer of 2025. I cant say I know him very well but at 17 I highly doubt that he would be a direct replacement as of now. There is also a huge leap of quality from playing in the Paraguayan league and then playing in Serie A.

      1. I agreed with you but this young guy plays football above his age… we can say the same bout our very own Camarda and Milan can’t make same mistake they made on Kerkaz… the left back position shouldn’t be a problem by now and Thoe would be having enough rest.

        1. I have no issues with us getting him if you are saying that he is a really huge talent but if we did it would be to shuttle between the Futuro and the fist team then. Kerkez was a mistake but it was himself asking to leave, I would nevertheless have refused that move myself and certainly not on the terms the dutch club got.

  4. If you brought fonseca here just to make problems to give you excuse for selling best players ,then yes, everything is going acording to the plan ,we have problems,we dont have the results, everyone hates everyone, toxic atmosphere, you can start selling best players already

  5. The Milan management are funny
A player doesn’t jump from bring good to being ridiculous with few months, Theo is suffering mental fatigue as he has been playing over 90% of the games for 3 seasons and the crazy FIFA international qualifiers and tournaments, instead of the coach to motivate and rejuvenate the player you rather ship him out?
Help me out please; who has the coach rejuvenate in the team? But those he send packing have been revive by other coaches. I will say the coach is the primary problem here

    1. Spot on. I just don’t understand how ppl can just change their tune about him in a few months. Most players have bad attitude and haven’t gotten better from last season….the common denominator is Fonseca.
I refuse to accept Theo being world class 4 months ago and his talent disappeared overnight
“Help me out please; who has the coach rejuvenate in the team? ” Sooo spot-on

  6. I think Fonseca should be the first one to go, along with Ibrahimovic and Moncada, then we will assess Tomori and Theo with whoever new coach takes over.

    1. Theo and Tomori have been getting worse and worse since the scudetto season. There is nothing left to assess.
Tomori was the worst defender in 22/23 and was mostly injured last year, while this year he has been even worse than the 22/23 season.
Theo has a contract that doesn’t allow time for assessment. He asks for money he doesn’t deserve and he has been the worst player on the team with awful attitude and problems off the pitch. No new coach will tolerate his behavior and effort.

  7. For fans it’s a shorth path
    from:
Theo the best, hero, captain, star, best LB on theworld
    +
    Fonseca is npc,flop,failure,lowcost,clown,menagement pawn
    to:
Theo the worst, lazy, disrespectful, source of problems, sell him
    + Fonseca good,in right,strong character,bench them all fonseca

That tells a lot about fans

    1. Players who don’t want to give their best needs to be benched. Why would any fan object to that? You want to see Milan be a midtable team forever? Because with players who don’t give a **** that is exactly what’s going to happen.

  8. I doubt there’s any truth to this. The surprise for me is how well Pobega has been playing at Bologna. 2 goals in his past 2, and one against Juventus.
