Last night, AC Milan faced Juventus in what could’ve been a massive game in the Champions League race. However, it ended up being one of the worst games of the season.

Coming into this game, neither team really needed three points. Just a point would help both on their way to the Champions League, so it didn’t seem like either was going to risk that for the small bonus of three points.

So, it was not really a shock when both managers opted for a heavily defensive game plan. Whilst a boring game, both managers got what they wanted and have now ticked off a big Head-to-Head clash in the process. A win, even if no goals were scored.

However, the fans were not best pleased with the result and nor were the Italian media, as can be seen below.

Today’s front pages

🤐 “Ugly draw between Milan and Juventus. Jeers and the Champions League.”

👀 “Saelemaekers hits the bar. Como and Roma remain at a distance.”

Tuttosport

😴 “Once upon a time, Milan-Juve. Disappointing 0-0 draw at San Siro, no goals just like in the reverse fixture.”

📈 “Allegri moves within two points of Napoli, Spalletti remains in fourth but Como and Roma are getting closer.”

Corriere dello Sport

🆚 “The Champions League race doesn’t end here. Milan, Juve, Como and Roma within six points of each other.”

📅 “0-0 draw in the clash between Allegri and Spalletti: Fabregas and Gasperini are three points behind top four.”

  1. Both teams are dead set on making top 4. The reality is that Spalleti found Juve in a bad space so stability was needed. Milan is a work in progress given the past 2 terrible seasons. These coaches are clever enough to know that they need to stabilize things first with the hope of resetting the project for next season. Lets face it as a Milanisti we are all to happy to make top4…the scudetto was never a realistic target. But I also understand the frustration of us limping to the finish line with no real zeal to impose ourselves (especially taking into consideration that we had a light schedule this season). The team needs the right solutions for next season, let’s give Max the time and support to do that. Lets judge him after he had the time to put his print on the team. Let us give players like Jash and Ricci the support and judge them when they had been given the necessary playing time and came up short. Forza Milan.

  2. Until we guarantee top 4 and UCL, we will continue to grind every result. Allegri wont risk it. I’m ok with that, but this pattern wont fly next season or in the UCL (if we are to have any ambition of a better campaign)
