Alex Jimenez has found himself a regular starter at AC Milan over the past few games, but things could have been very different for the Spaniard.

As TMW report, just month ago Milan left-back Alex Jimenez ‘seemed destined to leave’ Milan because he was struggling for playing time under Paulo Fonseca. Theo Hernandez is obviously the starter but even when he couldn’t play Filippo Terracciano was chosen.

However, Fonseca chose to play Jimenez when benching Theo and the results were positive, so much so that even when the Portuguese was replaced by his compatriot Sergio Conceicao he has kept his starting place.

Jimenez has been used both as a left-back and as a winger on both sides, proving to be more than up to the task even if he does not have a goal contribution yet. The 19-year-old offered five good starts in the league and the Supercoppa Italiana.

In December Milan explored more than one left-back to become Theo’s new deputy, so as to allow Jimenez to mature elsewhere. In fact, he was even offered on loan to Lecce, but now the former Real Madrid man’s performances have made the club half their pursuit of a player in his role.

    1. It would only have been a loan unless Real Madrid would have acccepted a sale as they have a buyback clause that is active in the summer of 2025 for 7/9 mil and in the summer of 2026 at 12 mil so its not really that we are in a position to do as we please.

        1. Well I’m not so sure you are correct here as the two clubs already made contractual obligations and selling him in the meantime would basically make it more worthless than the paper it was written on.

      1. Still the choice is in Jimenez’ hand… if he don’t sign the contract even if real activate the buyback clause they can’t sign him.

So if we can convince him to choose us over Madrid, it’s still hopeful we can retain his service.

        1. I get that but what Vero Rossonero argued for basically would circumvent the contract already agreed upon so I have some doubts about that part.

Yeah lets hope so but I am nevertheless of the view that we should stop making deals with Madrid where they have the upper hand,
