Alex Jimenez has become a regular starter in AC Milan’s new formation, and talks are planned with Real Madrid about his future.
As Calciomercato.com write, Jimenez is living his best season of a still very young career. After starting the season with Milan Futuro, he earned a spot in the first team. Since playing on December 15, with Paulo Fonseca as the head coach, he has never left the senior squad.
With the arrival of Sergio Conceicao, the Spaniard has taken off even more. He has played as a full-back, a winger in the front three and now as a wing-back in the 3-4-3. His form has even kept Kyle Walker out of the team recently.
Milan’s plan and Real Madrid’s clause
Milan will have to fill two fundamental roles for the future: the new sporting director and Sergio Conceicao’s successor on the bench. These are two important choices, but they will not influence the one on Jiménez.
The current management sees the Spaniard as one of the key elements for the new project which will launch ahead of 2025-26. The idea is to make him one of the pillars for the present and, above all, the future.
Milan are talking to Real Madrid and with Jiménez’s new representatives, the YOU FIRST agency, to define the future. Los Blancos are carefully following the growth of the 19-year-old and have a €9m buy-back clause in the summer.
The idea will be to alter that clause in some way, potentially raising it or pushing it back, or there could be a possible negotiation over removing the buy-back entirely.
Should remove the buyback but add clause to give Madrid priority if they want to sign him with his fair future value (both club can negotiate the price, but Madrid is the priority if some clubs also wants him later)
