CM: Jimenez has ‘quality and personality’ above Serie C – first team promotion necessary

AC Milan opted to buy Alex Jimenez in the summer, but he has remained in the youth ranks. However, a promotion should be in store…

Whilst the Milan Futuro side failed to win again this weekend, there was another fine performance from the young Spaniard, and the question must be asked about his future. In the summer, Zlatan Ibrahimovic stated he would be the deputy to Theo Hernandez, but this has not yet been the case.

For this reason, Calciomercato.com asks if promotion to the senior team does not come now, when will it? The right-back is showing ‘quality and personality’ way above the level of the third tier, but there has been no movement above.

From Ibra’s summer statements, the recent weeks would have been the perfect chance to assess his level – possibly most so this weekend against Monza, when Filippo Terracciano was selected at right-back.

However, Paulo Fonseca opted against using the Spaniard. The longer that the Portuguese waits to include him in the ‘rotation’ will potentially stall his development, and whilst the goal of the Futuro is to allow the Rossoneri to not rush, it cannot be overdone.

With Theo back in the squad, and three right-backs at Fonseca’s disposal, perhaps the current window has closed. However, it could’ve at least seen a glimpse of the former Real Madrid man.
