Jimenez sends signal to Milan management with promising display vs. Roma

Alex Jimenez got the chance from start yesterday as AC Milan faced Roma in a friendly, playing in the left-wing position. The youngster impressed a lot and has sparked optimism ahead of the future.

The full-back joined Milan from Real Madrid last summer and was a key player for the Primavera side during the season. He also got the chance for the first team a few times, showcasing his speed as well as acceleration, and immediately caught the attention of the fans.

Yesterday, he got the chance from start by interim manager Daniele Bonera in the friendly against Roma. Milan ended up losing the game 5-2, but Jimenez was one of the better players and was praised in our player ratings.

“The youngster was clearly very keen on proving himself and it ended up being a good evening. He was involved in a lot in attack, using his speed and acceleration to trouble Roma time after time, and he nearly got a fantastic Theo-esque goal with an effort that struck the bar,” our motivation read.

Although he’s shorter and lacks the same physical strength, he’s kind of similar to Theo Hernandez in the sense that he offers a lot of pace when going forward. This almost always puts the opponents in danger and we saw that on a few occasions yesterday.

Jimenez also nearly scored a screamer on the edge of the box, doing his best impression of Hernandez’s stunning volley earlier in the game. In any case, the 19-year-old impressed and Milan are set to exercise the €4.5m option to buy.
