Romano: Jorge Mendes to meet Milan management – further ‘surprises’ possible

The AC Milan management are set for a new meeting with agent Jorge Mendes to discuss the potential for further operations.

Over the past few days, Mendes’ name has been linked with Milan on various fronts. He is believed to be helping the club in their mission to offload Rafael Leao, having offered him to Chelsea in the event that Pedro Neto leaves, and also to Roma.

The big news though was the signing of Diego Moreira from Strasbourg for €50m plus bonuses, which should be announced today after his medical yesterday. Mendes looks after the Belgian’s interests and is understood to have orchestrated a lightning operation.

A new meeting with Mendes

In their YouTube video uploaded last night, Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto discussed Mendes’ arrival in Italy yesterday. They confirmed that the powerful agent will meet with Milan, which could lead to further business.

Fabrizio Romano: “Rodrigo Mora’s agent, Jorge Mendes, also arrived in Rome with him. From what I understand, he’ll be in Milan tomorrow to meet with Milan’s top brass.

“A new meeting, new strategies, and we’ll also see if there’ll be any new deals after Gonçalo Ramos and Diego Moreira, who had his medical today and will sign with Milan tomorrow.”

Matteo Moretto: “He’ll certainly have the opportunity to speak with AC Milan, who are very active in transfers, but we expect some surprises and further incoming moves.

“There are many players who could leave the Rossoneri: there are ongoing negotiations with Como for Ricci, concrete and constant discussions, but he’s not the only one who could leave the Rossoneri.”

    1. You can get Zhegrova for 5 Million, he needs work but if you look at his achievements in France he has potential to be a strong guy coming from bench for a fraction of the cost, his dribling is great, the problem is defense and position

    1. Scaroni: “please another suprise signing mr cardinale. You have the money, you can make a lot of gold with your golden hand power.”

      Cardinale: “just wait scaroni.”

Cardinale: “i am such genius and creative. We don’t have real sporting director in management because we have hidden sporting director, mendes.”

Scaroni: “with my big boss cardinale and hidden sporting director mendes we can have another party welcoming another expensive signing”.

Scaroni: “how about 40 million kean of fiorentina?”.

Cardinale: “no, he is italian and not expensive enough. Only scaroni the italian i like.”

  1. Conceicao Is fantastic and very dangerous in his position.. it would definitely be really good deal.. then Mike.. he should be sold.. no goalkeeper is worth this money.. we already have good goalkeepers.. sell him asap and use that money… and then I’ll send Rabiot to max.. enjoy each other.. and lastly I’ll bring Danilo santos from botafago brazil..

  2. The use of the word “surprises” in media reports is merely a euphemism for sudden restructuring processes that may involve selling key players and an influx of other players from the same agent offices. (Positively) Fast paced dynamics and the ability to close complex deals quickly without engaging in lengthy, traditional negotiations.

  3. Am I the only one who thinks getting in bed with Mendes is a terrible idea?

Gerry is in a spending mood so Mendes is taking him for a ride but in a longer term this may become an issue when it’s time for renewals in 3-4years time.

So either Gerry doesn’t understand what he’s doing or his plan is to offload the club in that window and make the headache of dealing with Mendes with renegotiations somebody else’s problem.

Mendes-run clubs eventually lose their sporting project/ideas to a transfer carousel orchestrated by him, which ends up in a continuous cycle of player movement, inflated costs, and instability… I think Wolves are the best example of it.

    1. You were right about that. The “propaganda” surrounding these deals is debunked. Fans rejoice at the arrival of the players Mendes brings in, but cold financial analysis reveals that the club is mortgaging its long-term investment for short term success.

The Wolverhampton example is a perfect analogy. Wolverhampton went from being a rising team with an ambitious project to merely a “transit point” for players from the Portuguese league and Gestifute agents, subsequently facing Financial Fair Play issues and being forced to dismantle its structure.

  4. We need Mendes because Leao is no longer wanted ANYWHERE except Turkey….

there are a few possible swaps with Mendes players :

    Nico Gonzalez (Mancity)
    Casado (Barca)

Maybe a swap deal with Zaire Emery for Leao and cash maybe…

    I dont mind a Yoro – Leao Swap…

  5. Just leave the team as is. With a decent coach and solid tactics this team should easily finish top 4. Only go into the market for really top-class talent. Like Casado. Or don’t bother.
