Luka Jovic could sign for AC Milan during the January transfer window on one condition, according to a journalist from Spain.
There continues to be an abundance of speculation in the media regarding whether Milan will move for a new centre-forward in January to provide cover for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and allow him to manage his work load more.
A number of targets have been linked in recent weeks such as Real Madrid’s Jovic, Sassuolo’s Gianluca Scamacca, Liverpool’s Divock Origi and PSV’s Donyell Malen, but now a new name has emerged.
Tuttomercatoweb have spoken to Spanish journalist Eduardo Cornago, from the editorial staff of AS, about the situation regarding the Serbian striker.
“He is not convincing Real. A big investment was made to bring him to Madrid, but he never managed to show the high levels of returns expressed in Germany and Portugal. However, I doubt that in this market he will leave,” he said (via MilanLive).
He adds that it would take a pretty specific condition for Jovic to end up leaving and ending up playing for the Rossoneri in the second half of the season, but that Milan can become a ‘serious candidate’.
“If Luka leaves now, Real have to find a replacement for him and with the significant cut in the amount of wages put in place by the club, this would only be possible by taking a very economic profile on the market. If this low-cost substitute were to arrive, Milan would clearly be a serious candidate in the race for Jovic.”
