The January transfer window can be one that springs surprises, and the idea of Samuele Ricci joining AC Milan is once again being spoken about.
Above all, the rumours have resurfaced because of some comments during the live broadcast of Cronache di Spogliatoio, when journalist Marco Cattaneo stated that Ricci could even start the derby for Milan against Inter.
“This double Elmas-Casadei negotiation really seems like the prelude, and I’m told it’s very likely, of Ricci’s transfer to Milan as early as January,” Cattaneo declared.
“It’s the first time I’ve gone so far. And I’ll say another: in this negotiation, at that point, Milan could also give Jovic to Torino. At the Rossoneri, and I’ve read this, one between Lucca and Gimenez could arrive.
“Ricci-Milan percentage? 97%, I’m telling you he could be on the pitch in the derby: without Fofana, Ricci and Walker will play.”
The truth
As our colleagues at SempreMilan.it report, Milan’s interest in Ricci is nothing new and the directors had intensified its contacts with Urbano Cairo to try to close the deal as quickly as possible, even in the winter.
However, Torino have so far resisted, postponing the possible sale of their midfield jewel until next summer. Milan’s desire to have Ricci immediately is clear, but the Granata do not want to lose such an important player now, and they sense a summer auction.
Complicating the negotiations is also the interest of other teams. Manchester City and Inter are closely monitoring Ricci’s situation, ready to enter the race if the right opportunity presents itself.
However, Milan seem to be in pole position, which is because of the player’s openness to the move and the management working in advance to try and secure a preferential lane.
The double signings of Eljif Elmas and Cesare Casadei could be seen as a precursor to a departure, but they have been pursuing a midfielder for a while now and it is likely they are simply seeking cover.
Also, the economic aspect of the matter is that Milan have decided that if they are to make a January investment it will be on a striker like Gimenez. Thus, the idea of spending north of €50-60m in the current window seems like fantasy.
I think he got the numbers backwards as in “3% chance”. Even that would be insanely over-optimistic. But hey, at least he got his name out there. I think that was his aim anyway.
It’s such a ridiculous statement that even SM had to put a qualifier in their article.
I’m 97% sure this is bull
damn it, i was going to say this. LOL
Hahaha. This guy is so funny in the completely wrong way…and so is my laughter…
What? I thought Casadei was set to join Lazio, but it’s Torino who wins the race getting Casadei? BTW, Ricci and Santi would be huge upgrade and big signing after signing Charles De Cats back then…
It would be a massive deal for me but I certainly wouldn’t believe such fairytale story until the ink were dry.
Exactly. They do seem a bit more proactive in going after proper targets this window though, w/ Ricci and Gimenez… Saying that, all we have so far is Kyle Walker…
Yeah it seems so but if they doesn’t bring in either of them then it’s not much worth either but time will tell if this is just media speculation or wishful thinking of the management or an actual thing. Walker seems like a fine acquisition but even that deal is only a free loan with an option to buy.
In the end though if we look at the winter mercato then its actually Como who of all teams who has spend the most money up until now as most clubs simply has done anything except loaning or selling their players but there is still obviously time for that to change.
I would say that Juve has done things too. They’re at least trying… Can’t really say the same for the club we love…
Except for Costa they have only made paid loans and apparently without options to buy so not really that impressed there. When that is said if they sell Vlahovic that might change things as I saw some rumors about them trying to acquire Højlund but I suspect that the Dane would reluctant to be sold as he has been a Man Utd. fan since childhood.
Juve’s management is on another level compared to ours in terms of investment on their squad. It will be extra hard to snag 4th place for them, not too mention that currently we play like a midtable team at best.
Baresis Dream to be fair I really don’t think it should be a huge problem for us taking either 5 or 4rth league position at least if we can become a bit more consistent in our performances and at least for now the team has progressed better point wise than under Fonseca and if we can win the match at hand we will be on equal points as Juventus and then Lazio would only have two more than us. At this point of time I expect us to get minimum 5th but think we will grab the 4rth spot by the end of the season.
Prove me wrong at least with this acquisition you cheap b*stards.
You’ve been wrong for 18 months. They don’t need to prove anything to you.
Says a guy who thinks club’s spending force is determined by the profit they booked. Never heard of a bigger id*otism in my life.
Suck em off harder, buddy…
Talk only no action for this Cardinale era.. LoL
But I thought Bennacer was our “new midfield signing”?
Don’t remember anyone in management actually saying that … that’s a Galliani line 🙂 My god I miss that cr@p.
Galliani ran the club into the ground. The time to build for the future is when a club is on top. Galliani failed to do that. Berlusconi was the genius, not Galliani.
Yeh I wouldn’t want Galliani back but he was amusing…
Tell me you have no clue of Silvio’s Milan era, without telling me.
Braida was the real mastermind behind our transfers when AC Milan was the team we all want us to become again. Galliani On the other hand was the one who brought the deals over the goal line.
@Martin exactly, Braida was finding the player that fit us and Galliani was the one who knew how to deal for players and what is needed and brought the deals over the line.
Yeah absolutely.
Galliani hod a ZERO budget in decline of Milan nad had to pull rabbits out of his @$$ to bring in transfers. Berlusconi had him working on peanuts.
Baldie over Svckaroni anyday
I was being flippant to be honest – more about the fact that there’s no way we are signing Ricci.
I think this has been said by ‘someone’ – I’ve definitely read it somewhere, but yeah Galliani was the absolute master at selling that idea.
Mr. X!
