Journalist claims Atalanta star only a last-minute option in Milan’s pursuit; Chelsea man the primary objective

Many players have been linked to AC Milan in the last couple of weeks, as the Rossoneri management continue to look for a Hakan Calhanoglu replacement on the transfer market. The hot name of the last hours seems to be Josip Ilicic, although not according to everyone.

Earlier today Antonio Vitiello from Milannews.it reported that the club is evaluating 2-3 names for the attacking midfielder and right-winger positions, with Ilicic only representing a last gasp option in case of the failure of other deals.

And journalist Carlo Pellegatti seems to see the situation in a very similar manner. In a video on his Youtube channel (via Milannews.it), he reiterated that Ilicic would only arrive as a free operation in the last days of the market.

According to his words, Atalanta are trying to place him without success at the moment, because the Slovenian only wants Milan.

The Rossoneri, however, are looking for other players and the ideal one is Ziyech. Pellegatti suggests that it is a very complicated and difficult deal, but the player would be a great and versatile option for the club, unlike Ilicic.
