Journalist claims Marseille will ask for 22-year-old Milan forward on loan

AC Milan forward Rafael Leao is in the contention for a move away from the Rossoneri on loan, as per new reports.

According to reports from Portuguese football pundit Pedro Almeida (via Football Italia), Olympique de Marseille will ask for the 22-year-old striker on loan for next season as his future remains uncertain after an inconsistent season.

He is said to be on the books of Marseille president Pablo Longoria, who is on a mission to reinforce the team’s squad to contend for Ligue 1 next season after the departure of their star player Florian Thauvin.

Leao appeared 40 times across Milan’s 2020-21 season, scoring 7 and assisting 6 across all competitions. The former Lille striker perhaps needs some time away from the pressure of AC Milan’s demands to rediscover his form and there may not be many better places than Ligue 1, from where he was scouted for the big move to Italy and succeeded with Lille.
