Journalist claims Milan are ‘very close’ to signing James Rodriguez from Everton – €18m contract ready

By Oliver Fisher -

A journalist has claimed that AC Milan are very close to completing the signing of James Rodriguez from Everton.

After a long and protracted saga, Hakan Calhanoglu decided to bid farewell to Milan fans in the most spiteful of ways: signing with cross-town rivals Inter. Now, the search for a replacement is well underway and there are several sources suggesting that James Rodriguez is a possibility.

Among these is Colombian journalist Diego Rueda, who reported that the Rossoneri have even been offered the chance to sign the 29-year-old from Everton, presumably by his agent Jorge Mendes who the club met with last week.

According to Vito De Palma of ESPN, he has been told by sources that Milan ‘are very close to closing’ a deal for Rodriguez. He adds that there is talk of an €18m net salary over three years for the player, but the real numbers ‘are the hardest thing to figure out’.
