Journalist claims Romagnoli earns €5m net per season plus bonuses amid renewal uncertainty

By Oliver Fisher -

A renewal will be difficult for Alessio Romagnoli unless he chooses to take a pay cut given that he earns more currently than some are reporting.

Back in 2018 Romagnoli signed a new contract with Milan and many presumed that is was at €3.5m net per season. However, Nicolo Schira has revealed that Romagnoli currently earns €5m net per season as a fixed amount plus €500k in bonuses in the event of qualification for the Champions League and another €500k linked to personal targets.

This means that he would collect €6m net in the event the bonuses were achieved. It should be remembered that the player’s agent at the time of the renewal was Sergio Berti, and only in late 2019 did he choose Mino Raiola to represent him.

Any negotiation over a renewal would be complicated, given that the captain was benched after the arrival of Fikayo Tomori and it is unlikely they will agree to give him the same amount to renew.
