An update on the Milan market has arrived including confirmations that Edin Dzeko is a concrete target in the case that Olivier Giroud does not arrive.
Luca Marchetti (via MilanNews) reports how Chelsea have exercised their unilateral option for a one-year contract renewal, but the Frenchman has a promise from the club that if he wants to move to a club abroad he can go for free. If that does not materialise then Dzeko is a back-up target as he is a player who knows the Italian league inside out, is one year older but would be a low-cost deal.
The other intrigue concerns Hakan Calhanoglu who has not signed a renewal and has real and concrete interest from Atletico Madrid, who at the same time are also dealing with De Paul for that area of the pitch. If Calhanoglu were to go to Atletico Madrid it is clear that on De Paul would have one less suitor. It is a difficult negotiation because the player is valued at €30m+ by Udinese, but Milan have already started contacts. Finally, Junior Firpo has been identified as a deputy to Theo Hernandez.
