Journalist highlights three signings Milan should make in the summer with Papu Gomez named

Despite the fact that there is still so much to play for in the final nine games of the season, attention has already turned to planning for next season.

There has been a lot of speculation both in the media that a new right winger is needed ahead of a potential return to the Champions League, because Alexis Saelemaekers and Castillejo offer a certain skill set but not much in terms of goal threat.

Pietro Balzano Prota reported on Twitter last month that one of the target for the summer transfer window will indeed be a new attacking player for the right side as Castillejo’s time at Milan is likely to be over after three seasons.

Journalist Alessandro Jacobone spoke during an interview with MilanLive about a number of different topics concerning the current team, including which striker the club should sign, and he discussed the objectives for the summer window.

“Surely Milan need a top right winger to replace Castillejo and therefore increase the quality, the number of goals and the aggression towards the opponent’s goal,” he said.

“The Thauvin track has cooled down, and Orsolini is of quality, but here we need to contextualise. Milan need a player who is scary forward. Then there is a deputy Theo Hernandez missing, because he can’t play 40 games always in the same way and at the same pace. We need a reliable player who is able to replace him when he is not at the top.

“If Brahim Diaz remains, we have enough in the trident, otherwise we would also need a deputy Calhanoglu, for example a player like Papu Gomez, with a little experience, and who is returning to Italy because he is not happy at Sevilla.”
