Journalist claims Milan have enquired about promising Anderlecht centre-back

AC Milan have had major struggles in the defensive phase this season and an injury crisis among the centre-backs has been one of the key causes. For next season, therefore, the Rossoneri will want to be prepared for everything.

According to the journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Milan have enquired about the future of Anderlecht centre-back Zeno Debast. The 20-year-old has made 24 appearances this season and is also being courted by Eintracht Frankfurt, with the Belgian side expected to cash in this summer.

Debast’s contract with Anderlecht will expire in 2025 and this could result in a discount this summer, though Milan don’t consider him a priority at the moment. A lot will likely depend on the remainder of the season, as the centre-back situation will be a lot easier to judge after that.

Matteo Gabbia returned from his loan at Villarreal in January and has been very good, potentially getting a spot in the first team next season as well. With him, Pierre Kalulu, Fikayo Tomori and Malick Thiaw, the centre-back position would be considered covered.

The youngster Jan-Carlo Simic has also impressed but he might be set for a loan spell in the first tier, getting consistent playing time to continue his development.
