Journalist: Milan ‘seem to be approaching the end game’ regarding signing of Spurs defender

By Oliver Fisher -

Serge Aurier is destined to leave Spurs this summer amid interest from AC Milan and two other European clubs, according to one journalist.

Milan’s desire to secure an upgrade in the right-back position is no secret now as Davide Calabria and Andrea Conti both failed to convince for large stretches of the 2019-20 season due to a combination of injuries, suspensions and general poor form.

Players like Emerson Royal of Barcelona and Denzel Dumfries of PSV Eindhoven have been repeatedly linked, but the most concrete track seems to be the one leading to Aurier.

Multiple different sources have reported that Spurs and Milan are locked in talks over the Ivorian but are yet to agree a transfer fee despite the player giving his approval to joining the Rossoneri, where he would reunite with former PSG team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic assuming he renews.

Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold has given an update on the situation surrounding Aurier, confirming Milan are still on pole.

“It feels like Serge Aurier’s heading out the exit door. Everything points towards that,” he said (via thisisfutbol).

“He wanted to leave last summer, AC Milan are interested in him and seem to be approaching the end game of getting him. There’s other clubs interested as well, which Spurs will be delighted about. I’ve seen links with Leverkusen, Monaco, and all of that puts pressure on AC Milan to get the deal done.”

  1. I am not convinced with the move for Aurieir. We shouldn’t be going for players whose clubs are seeking to offload them.
