Charles De Ketelaere has been heavily linked with a move to AC Milan over the last week or so and it seems he’s the primary target this summer. The interest is indeed concrete and he’s a quality player, as confirmed by a journalist.
The 21-year-old, who plays as an attacking midfielder for Club Brugge, scored 18 goals and assisted an additional 10 this past season. Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara believe he would be the perfect man for Milan’s No.10 role.
In an interview with PianetaMilan, Belgian journalist Alexandre Braeckman (RTL Sport) was asked about Milan’s interest in De Ketelaere as well as his teammate Noa Lang. He confirmed that the former is more likely to join than the latter.
Among the possible signings, Milan are also thinking about Noa Lang and De Ketelaere: what are the chances of seeing them with the Rossoneri?
“As for Lang, we still have to wait. He’s an option but not yet a goal, Milan haven’t decided to close yet because they are trying to sign De Ketelaere. For him, the situation is different, as Leicester started talking to him a month ago. But the Champions League can make a big difference, so Milan have a slight advantage right now.
“A first offer for De Ketelaere has arrived, around €30m plus bonuses. We’ll see what happens. De Ketelaere is more likely to join Milan than Lang at the moment. To be honest with you, I think De Ketelaere could become the next De Bruyne. His vision of the game is brilliant, he’s fast, technically interesting, and he can score quite easily.
“De Bruyne takes care of him in the national team, I think he knows what he can do. De Ketelaere is a truly incredible talent, a smart guy, and also very professional. He has the mindset and the skills to become a world-class player. Milan would be a big step forward for him,” he concluded.
De Ketelaere can also play as a right-winger and a centre-forward, so it’s not exactly surprising that the Rossoneri are very interested. It remains to be seen what the outcome of the negotiations will be, but it would indeed be an interesting signing.
