Journalist speculates playmaker may have already signed new Milan deal on Tuesday

By Oliver Fisher -

Journalist and columnist Franco Ordine has speculated that Hakan Calhanoglu may have signed his new AC Milan contract yesterday.

In an editorial for MilanNews, he writes how Calhanoglu went up to the third floor of Casa Milan having been invited by the club’s executives, and as per the version of events offered to the media by Milan he arrived to express his intent to renew his contract.

Calhanoglu is of course represented by his agent Gordon Stipic with whom there have been several meetings, including one last week, and now we have reached the final phase of the negotiations with Milan offering €4m plus bonuses while the demand is five.

Ordine questions if Calhanoglu went to Milan home to repeat his desire to stay in Milan, or whether he actually went to sign his renewal, given he sees Maldini and Massara every day at Milanello and could have just told them he wants to stay during their daily encounters.

If he went to Casa Milan in person, then it was not to express a will but possibly to move on to the executive phase and sign. Then the announcement would be chosen for the right moment, given announcing it on the day of a game in which he will not play as he is injured does not exactly represent the right moment.
