Juan Jesus claims Milan tried to cause ‘controversy’ in first leg and makes Leao admission

By Oliver Fisher -

Napoli defender Juan Jesus has claimed that AC Milan played the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final meeting with the intention of causing ‘controversy’.

It seems as though both sides are unhappy with how the first leg at San Siro went on Wednesday night, with Milan feeling that they should have had two penalties after Rade Krunic was hauled down during a corner and Alexis Saelemaekers was tripped.

Napoli meanwhile lost two players to suspension, the first being Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa who received two yellow cards in quick succession and was sent off, and the second being Kim Min-jae who was booked for dissent.

Jesus will step in for the suspended Kim as per widespread reports and he did the pre-match press conference alongside head coach Luciano Spalletti, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

“Now I have to think about Napoli, about going through. Five years ago. Now it’s a bit simpler than overturning the result against Barcelona’s Messi and Iniesta,” he said.

How do you expect Napoli tp play?

“Aware. We are demonstrating in many matches what Napoli are. If today we have this gap in points, I think we must be aware of our qualities and do well.”

How big is the return of the fans?

“The fans have to be fans, push the team, and we’ll do our best. It’s easier with fans who push, we saw it against Juventus.”

What will it take to win?

“In a tie like this, they played the first leg to cause a bit of a controversy, but we responded on the pitch and we’ll do the same tomorrow. We’ll have to be smarter, wiser and obviously we’ll need cazzimma [attitude].”

What do you expect from Milan?

“They are strong. They have Leao, Diaz, Giroud… We have to keep the ball, because if we have it they can’t do anything.”

How to replace Kim?

“Kim is a great player, but I don’t think I’m any less. I’ve been playing in Serie A for 12 years, I’ve faced many more complicated matches than this one. I have my characteristics.”

What does the return of Osimhen mean?

“Victor is a problem for the Milan defence. He’s fit, he’s our top scorer, let’s hope he can help the team.”

Who do you fear most about Milan?

“Leao. He’s fast, powerful, he has dribbling, he can hurt us.”

  1. Lol. “Tried to cause controversy”? “Provoke”? Isn’t that what he’s doing? The mind games are in full swing.

  2. I really hope Milan get through to semi final. I just can’t stand Napoli, from their obnoxious coach, players, and fans.
