Juventus’ 15-point reduction revoked as Milan now sit outside the top four

Juventus have had their 15-point penalty revoked and there will now be a new trial in which the FIGC Federal Court of Appeal their punishment.

As is being reported by Sky among other sources, the new trial at the Federal Court is expected to take a month which means that any penalty that Juve get is likely to apply in the 2023-24 season.

Getting the 15 points back moves the Bianconeri up to third place in Serie A on 59 points, moving Roma down to fourth, Milan to fifth and Inter to sixth, further complicating the top four race for the Rossoneri.

The CONI prosecutor Ugo Taucer admitted that the initial 15-point deduction ‘has a lack of clarity in the motivation that must be appreciated and evaluated by a new judgment’, especially given the FIGC prosecutor Giuseppe Chinè only asked for nine points in January.

It is possible that the new investigation involves not only Juventus but also Napoli, Sampdoria, Genoa, Empoli, Parma, Pisa, Pescara, Novara, Chievo and Pro Vercelli, who were all mentioned in the capital gains case.

  1. Yup and yup. Somehow this is expected. That’s why I always complain on how we approach our league games recently. Our top 4 position is always in the juggle this season. This is a wake up call we need.

  2. Only in Serie A. Smh

I said at the beginning case law had precedence over this and it’s hard to prove alternative value especially when market forces has a pricing/valuation mechanism inherently in-built in the system

  3. It complicates things for Milan but this is the right decision to make.
Giving them 15 points penalty for something that is very hard to prove was wrong from the get go.

  4. Sometimes Italian justice system is laughable yes juve cheated the system they should be punished but prosecutors made a laughing stock out of this case from the beginning clearing other clubs hence making a mockery of system…..about us being down at 5 place is about our performances…..we need to act together and give our all in next 8 league games no rooms for errors….I will nightmare if milan is knocked out of champions league last 4 and not even qualifying for champions league……anyone remember 2007 we didn’t qualify for champions league through seria a but won champions league…..

    1. We did qualify for the UCL through serie A in 07 even without winning the UCL, because we finished 4th even though we started the season with 8 points penalty.
Winning the UCL just allow us to go straight in the group stage instead of playing a qualifying round before the group stages.
At that time the first 2 went straight to group stages and the 3th and 4th played a qualifying round to get in the group stages

      1. My bad I thought we went by winning champions league but common this team is very much capable of qualifying through league a bit of extra efforts the only thing which worries me now is our squad depth I hope we win our next league games

  5. Beat Juve and Roma both win rest of the matches against bottom 5. Can lose against Lazio but W would be worth it. Take 3rd or 4th place. We can do it honestly.

  6. Well now we just have to acept and keep fighting its not like we are 10+ points behind 4 place we are 3 points behind Roma and we can overtake them in the matter of 2 matchs we win against Lecce and they lose against Atalanta we have the same going into the next game wich is against them Roma if we win we get 3 points ahead of them.So all and all i still see us finishing above Roma or Rubentos if not both!

  7. Oh and lets not forget that last year most people did not belived that we AC could win Serie A and we won against what most people said that we were lucky to finish top 4.

  8. And we are back to reality.
I see many of our fans call it not fair but if Milan doesn’t qualify for next year’s UCL we should only blame ourselves not the league or courts. We have been performing like a bottom table team in serie A since the beginning of 2023.

    1. But in reality they should have done this better. They could have said the points deduction comes in the end of the season and not during (first to deduct and then to reinstate ) so everyone knows what they’re dealing with instead of guesswork. For instance, pioli might not have rested 10 players vs Bologna because of the impression that the team can still be top 4 at the end of that round. U dig?
      It’s a farce really.

      1. Section of our fans continue to talk how we are a big club but then they act like fans of a small club constantly crying and playing a victim.
People that followed the case including Pioli, Maldini and the players knew that this outcome was a high probability.
Also are you saying that we have been straight up dog doo doo all of 2023 in serie A because we were counting on Juventus 15 point penalty?
The only reason why we are still in fight for top 4 is because the rest of the league is also dog doo doo, especially Inter.
Juventus are on a 2 game losing streak in serie A and still is 6 points ahead of us on the table. That’s how bad Milan has been this 4 months.
        Stop looking for excuses.
        That’s a loser mentality.

        1. I agree with this. Too many points dropped to teams like Udinese, Salernitana and Empoli. People are talking about how we are going to beat Roma and Juventus in our head to heads and then steamroll the other lesser teams. Sure, maybe we’ll beat the big three we have left to play, since our style depends on giving up possession and counter attacking through the Freccia Nera (Leao), but what’s the game plan against small teams that park the bus and deny giving Leao a 10,000 foot runway for takeoff?

        2. I wasn’t saying anything about our performances but of legea. They didn’t get this right. This is moving the goalposts mid season. Don’t know how young you are but if after calcipoli when 06-07 season started with a bunch of points penalties to teams, you’re telling me mid season, after ,30 plus games that they reinstated Fiorentina 15 point penalty and all of a sudden Milan is now 5th or 6th instead of fourth, don’t u think that is absurd? Back then, just like what we’ve been doing now, we used to just manage 4th, didn’t care about the league only Championa League. We played for 4th minimum that season and based on the points deduction at the time knowing very well what the table meant. Otherwise we wouldn’t be resting for the UCL trophy which we eventually won. The table matters bro
Also, Juve played harder due to their points deduction but they are also a more equipped squad than anyone and anyone with a brain knew Juve was the second best team in the league.

  9. I have a question. What happens if we win the Champion league and Roma wins europa will then Juve be kicked out of the Champion league? 🤔

    1. Juventus are 3rd, so no matter what happens if they stay 3rd they are safe for UCL next season.
If inter finishes 4th but Milan and Roma win UCL and Europa league, then inter will be out of UCL

      1. Wait wait… Does Uefa allow 5 teams from one Federation? Because if Roma wins Europa they go straight to pot 1 and if Milan also win the Champion League they go to pot 1. So you saying it will be Napoli, Lazio, Roma, Milan and Juve?

  10. If we win all games we will be top 4 mathematically, simple as that, even if the opposition win all their games (of course except against us)

  11. They motivated Jube by deducting 15 points so they fought hard to gain points which they couldn’t under normal circumstances and now they give them 15 points back. Serie A is a joke.

  12. But Juventus are repeated offenders in Italian football corruption, they are always the first club name to be called.

    1. They have got judges in their pockets…why always them? why did their board resign if there was no conspiracy to cheat the system. they could have gone to court to clear their names..but no, they would have spilled more garbage!
Milan should play like we played in the last few games of last season and we would be safe.

      1. “why did their board resign if there was no conspiracy to cheat the system.”

This. It says a lot if you’re so quilty that even you can’t imagine winning the court case and resign beforehand.

        1. True, but there are two other investigations against Juventus at the moment, so it could have been the cumulative effect as opposed to this particular issue. The one involving the public statement of not paying four months wages and then paying them under the table is the most damning, as it involves straight up financial fraud. It’s basically cooking the books.

  13. I find this descision disgracefull considering it doesnt only affect juventus but several other clubs as well and potentially goes from being a punishment in this season to the next one iif they once again are deemed to have breached the rules, it really highlights incompetence.

When that is said I do believe we will still qualify for cl via serie a as we usually work great under pressure so lets hope we pick ourselves up in the league as its now sorely needed.

  14. When I watch Serie A teams play I always wonder why Italian football isn’t more popular internationally. Then I’m reminded what a complete embarrassment the administrative side of the league is.

  15. This is Serie A. Nothing is ever gonna happen to Juve. The whole Serie a is basically in their payroll which was already proven in court once. lol

But the thing is, Juve is not to blame. It’s us. We shouldnt have lost those easy point against bottom tier teams.

I really don’t see a way of getting back to top 4 in our current state and Roma’s form. The only way is for us to win every game from here on but that’s a stiff climb.

    Forza Milan.

    1. Well, to be fair I don’t recall any other club getting relegated for Calciopoli. Not trying to defend La Vecchia Ladrona, just keeping our level of discourse accurate.
