Sandro Tonali of Newcastle United

CorSport: ‘Radical turning point’ – Juventus target €55m Tonali move amid Milan links

There have been conflicting reports in the media over the past few days about Sandro Tonali, and it seems he is now a concrete target for Juventus.

La Gazzetta dello Sport suggested recently that Tonali is not happy with being a back-up at Newcastle and is already thinking about coming back to Serie A, with Milan naturally mentioned as a potential destination.

Magpies’ boss Eddie Howe replied to the reports in a press conference this week and laughed them off, while Matteo Moretto of Relevo then confirmed that the player is not looking for a way out of England.

According to Corriere dello Sport, there has been a ‘sudden and radical turning point’ in Juventus’ project. The fear of missing out on a Champions League spot – the club’s main objective for the season – has accelerated a ‘necessary corrective manoeuvre’.

Juve want Tonali to bolster their midfield but Newcastle United would ask for €55m. In order to raise those funds, they plan to sell Nicolò Fagioli and the 19-year-old jewel Kenan Yildiz for around €35-40m.

With that and the signing of Tonali they would satisfy Thiago Motta’s request of adding a dynamic midfielder who has aggression and intensity too. It would also allow the coach to use Teun Koopmeiners in a three-man midfield, like with Atalanta.

In recent weeks there was also talk of Milan’s interest, the paper adds. However, the most concrete path seems to be the one leading to their rivals Juve, even if the transfer market is often full of surprises.

  1. If Milan spends 50 million out of nowhere i would be amazed. For the player that we gave for almost 70. Makes sense to bring him back, a milanista who gives 100% on the pitch and in this current situation would boost morale of the fans, but lets remember that this managment dont do things that make sense.
What a heartbreak if he moves to Juventus…

    1. Juve can’t spend that much… They want to link him with Italy and since we all know the clowns will never spend the money, they are forcing the story of Juve. Sandro either moves to Milan or he stays at Newcastle…

          1. Douglas Luiz is not suitable for Motta’s tactics, and he is still regarded in the EPL. I would not entirely exclude that scenario.

  2. Not possible juventus sell yildiz for that peanuts that guy is thier main treat milan just need to see 4 dead woods like chukueze musah Emerson rlc tomori just get Tonali and 1 quality striker right back and quality attacking midfielder

  3. Another bad action selling him to NU. Who is the director, sure they don’t have Milan’s DNA.
Change all director and Zlatan. They useless, only money talk. Nothing more than backward performance.

  4. I just saw a poll on whether Juventus should sell Yildiz to raise money to buy Tonali and so far over 80% said NO.
But If Juventus are willing to let Yildiz go, Milan should jump on and buy him.
Milan needs a player like Yildiz more, because they have plenty of box to box midfielders like Tonali.

  5. So Newcastle doesn’t want him either. Puzzling, because everyone on here likes to pretend that Tonali is this amazing Midfielder, this super talent that we let get away, yet he can’t even start for mid table team like Newcastle. I guess he could be a backup for Reijnders or Fofana when they need a rest. He would have to take a big pay cut tho.

  6. 3 players would change the dinamic of this whole and would raise the level considerably.
    Tonali
    Chiesa
    Striker – Gyokeres/Jimenez(Santiago)/Boniface
And then we should get our own Jimenez to play right back, get Bartesaghi as Theo’s backup (needs to be among the squad more), get Zeroli, Vos, Liberali, Camarda, Scotti to be permantly involved with the first team.
Maybe get Ricci as well and bring back Daniel Maldini as Rafas backup.
SELL: RLC, Chukwueze, Okafor, Bennacer & send Abraham back. Maybe get rid of Musa as well

    1. Tonali and Chiesa aren’t raising the level of anything.
You see them coming off the bench? Because I don’t see them starting. Chiesa certainly isn’t going to start over Pulisic or Leao, and Tonali isn’t starting over Reijnders or Fofana. It would add depth but they would both have to take a big pay cut.

        1. You are trying to tell a guy that hates Tonali so much he deludes himself that Tonali is not good at Milan, and he is not good at Newcastle. Despite evidences that suggests otherwise, or the Newcastle fans that love him.

Man is so out of it, he tells himself lies to live with himself.

  7. If I was management, Yildiz would be a steal. Sell RLC, Chuck, loanee like Pobega and Romero would make that 55 mil transfer.
Keep salaemaker, he would add good depth unlike Chuck imo

  8. we can sell tomori rlc chuk and emerson and invest in other player and tonali is one of them sadly i find it hard that teams are dumb enough to buy these players tomori is the most likely to leave tho
