Juventus 1-2 AC Milan: SempreMilan watchalong and live commentary

The Supercoppa Italiana will commence for AC Milan this evening, taking on Juventus in the semi-final, and you can follow the action with our watchalong as well as our live commentary.

Sergio Conceicao will be on the bench for his first game in charge of Milan this evening, and it’s an opportunity to send a big message. Juventus are yet to lose domestically this season and beating them tonight would send Milan through to the final against Inter.

In short, just a week into his tenure at the club, Conceicao could clinch a trophy with the Rossoneri. You can follow the action in tonight’s game with our watchalong, hosted by Lorenzo, as well as our live commentary as published on our X account.

  1. They said Fonseca was the reason for Theo being trash.
Cant and could never defend a parked car.
Best left back in the world!
That’s was always a good joke.

      1. Ha ha ha.
It’s a team play when it’s Theo’s fault, if it happened on the other side it would have been Emerson or Calabria’s fault.

          1. So is defense a team play or are you blaming Maignan for the goal?
            That was a rocket.
Yildiz should have never been in that position to shoot if Theo can actually defend.
And like I said, if that happened on the right, you wouldn’t be saying team play or Maignan went down, it would have been all out assault on Emerson, Calabria, Terracciano, anyone not named Theo.
            Theo is a joke.

    1. Defensively he was never the best left back in the world or even amongst top 10 or 20 but offensively he was in a top 3 but now also that seems to have fizzled out.

    1. 1. He got a hand on it
      2. Thiaw had the far pay angle covered
      3. Beat at near post yet again.

Yildiz clearly pays attention to the scouting report on Mangion.

Yeah Theo made a really poor decision to unlock all that. Thiaw was in position as best he could be in the situation. Mangion let it through.

  2. If you see the goal 2cbs and Emerson occupied completely on right side.
Theo left to cover the large on his right and left.

He left with between options, he stood in the middle and he have no option to cut through

  3. It is evidently that Theo is gone and this milan do need right and left back..For Benacer in this match I dnt knw where he belong with poor decision making and the way we play our conner kick is another thing to look into.

      1. thats his job… tijji is nowhere to be seen and fofana is no playmaker. all passes he did today were wrong.

Concy got a lot of work to make something click

  4. Ja viem,že od prvého zápasu netreba veľa očakávať pod novým trénerom, ale ešte ako dlho takto 😢😢😢
    Držím palce pán tréner.

  5. Most goals we concede are from either a left winger crossing the ball to a right-sided forward, or one of our midfielders losing the ball and allowing a right-sided forward to break through. Then Theo leaves a huge space there and the right-sided forward has an easy time getting to Maignan’s bad side, which is his left side at the near post.

To fix this, I’m not sure if Conceição can, without some signings, because we’d only be able to fix it with a true defensive midfielder, with a better right back, and with a more defensive-minded left back. We don’t have either, so, it will be hard for Conceição to pull off a miracle if Milan doesn’t sign some new players to address these chronic deficits.

And then, like everybody knows, we need more prolific strikers because it’s not just the defense that has been a problem. We have two strikers who are not prolific while opponents have the likes of Lautaro and Thuram. We remain dependent on Rafa and Puli (and lately, Reijnders) for goals, and these non-strikers account for the vast majority of our goals + assists (like 30 so far if we add what each of these three have done; that’s a striking contrast when compared to the rare goal participations we get from our two strikers). It’s hard to be competitive without prolific strikers.

Too many areas to fix. Either we have some good transfer window actions to address these deficits, or we will remain weak regardless of who the head coach is.

  6. Milan is playing with a lesser player in jimenez, he is not adding anything to the attack and seems to be playing put of position drifting away from the wing too much

  7. In England, they’ve built at least four new football stadiums since the turn of the century (Wembley, Arsenal, Tottenham, Everton) – in Italy, only one (Juventus), if I’m not mistaken. I’m not Italian and don’t live in Italy; can someone please explain to me why it takes so long to do in Italy what in England takes no time. Wembley is a sacred site (scene of England’s 1966 World Cup triumph); yet, the English had no hesitation in tearing down the old stadium there and building a new one in its place. Why can’t Italians do the same at San Siro? How many more years must we wait for a new stadium in Milan?

    1. Messina’s stadium opened in 2004, Juve’s new stadium opened in 2011 (as you noted), Cagliari and Frosinone both opened new stadia in 2017, and AS Roma is currently constructing a new stadium, though it probably won’t be ready until 2027.

I agree that Italy has more red tape than many other nations, but they are making some progress.

      1. Thank you for enlightening me on this. Milan is one of the great cities of Europe; it deserves to have a new, state-of-the-art football stadium, like the Tottenham stadium in London. Cardinale has said he wants to build a new stadium. The Italian authorities – local, provincial, and national – should welcome his proposal with open arms and pull out all stops, including cut all the red tape, to enable him to realize his wish. He wants to invest in Italy; surely they should be thrilled at the prospect. They shouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth and throw obstacles in the way of the project that endlessly delay it. Embrace the future by agreeing to build a new stadium to be shared by AC Milan and Inter; respect history and tradition by locating it on the site of the current Giuseppe Meazza.

  8. Bruh, does Theo even want to be out of bed rn? It’s very rare that somebody on the pitch somehow looks worse than emerson…

  9. That was known. Shame on the managers who hired Fonseca in the summer when Conceição was available and willing (he was my top choice; Fonseca was my bottom choice, and I said so many times here at the time; it’s not hindsight). Maybe our season would have been very different, had we hired the right coach.

  10. We won! Yes, maybe we should have hired him sooner, or in the beginning, but lets just look to the future now. And hopefully they sign more players. I hear Mo Salah is gonna be free?

  11. Very good debut for Conceição’s tenure, god bless him. I’m happy specially for our solid display on the second half, Pulisic’s was providential.

  12. Not pretty, but clearly a more defined in the play already. For a first game after 1 week in charge, we’ll take a win. Glad he wasn’t afraid to pull Emerson when he realized how useless he was
