Kalulu admits that he would be happy with Juventus move: “I am paid”

Pierre Kalulu’s departure from AC Milan in the summer mercato seems inevitable, and once again, a feeling of regret is seeping in.

When the club decided to invest in the defence this summer, casualties were expected. Very few people expected to see the French defender leave San Siro, though; in fact, he would probably be one of the few that people would have kept for his versatility.

You could also argue that he would have been better use remaining at the club than some of those who came in to replace him.

This is without even considering his performances in Turin, where he has become a stalwart for Juventus this season, becoming one of the better defenders in the division this season, and being so consistently.

So, a permanent exit now seems inevitable, but the Frenchman is not thinking that far ahead. Instead, as he stated after the game against Roma this weekend, the focus remains on the present, as Milan News relays.

“To be honest, I look at social media very little. We are all professionals, and we know when we have played well or badly. If you start watching too much, it risks hurting you, and it doesn’t help you manage your ego.

“In the end, I am calm about my situation. It changes little for me, until June, I am paid. So I would say that if something happens after June, I will be happy.”

  1. With Milan’s situation this season, Kalulu would also have flopped like the rest defenders in the squad and his market value would have reduced drastically.

This situation is why I feel sorry for Tomori, Loftus-Cheek, and Gimenez in the team. These guys would have performed greatly in a team having a great season.

  2. Bologna absolutely dominated Conte’s Napoli. Italiano should be Milan’s n1 choice for coach.
His Bologna plays much better football than last years Motta’s even though they lost Calafiori and Zirkzee.
Conte’s Napoli are trash. They score accidental goals, and then they get dominated. Even Milan dominated them last week after they gifted them 2 goals advantage. And then people will tell you hire Conte but don’t hire Allegri because he plays boring football and is looking to win 1-0. How is Conte any different?
Bologna also beats that silly narrative that you have to have a core of mediocre players who hold Italian passports for the team to have a sense of belonging and pride to fight for the bedge. In the majority of games, they roll out with at most 1 Italian player, the rest are from all over the world and they are flying on the pitch, fighting for their teammates and their club.
Their sporting director Sartori is Italian, and he isn’t signing many Italian players, especially not those that actually play.
Their leaders are Ferguson and Freuler, not Orsolini.
Milan should go and pay to get both Sartori and Italiano from Bologna.
Great goal by Ndoye. Awesome left winger.
Their left back Miranda, who Milan was connected to for a whole year, is also very good. Bologna left side is actually better than Milan’s.
Very impressed with Bologna this season. They were pretty good in UCL as well.

    1. Yes bologna are doing really well for the reasons Calabria mentioned in his interview last week.

Apart from the fact that –

      IRL (that’s In Real Life as in Any normal industry or sport or thing outside of modern football) most organisations don’t just have a bunch of random different nationalities and individuals working together – I mean even if you hire a bunch of seasonal workers for farming you tend to get a group from the same or similar countries, and that’s picking fruit NOT elite sport;

      – as an Italian I want Italy to do well;

      – Italy have done well winning the euros and breaking Spain’s record for an undefeated run before losing it before the last World Cup X qualifiers and now international football is really just a mess with random tournaments so it’s hard to know who is who and what is what anymore…

Apart from those two facts/observations, bologna are doing well in a generally sub-standard league that is more like some dodgy dumping ground for dodgy goods and backhanders than an actual elite football league.

Serie A regularly tops the charts for the volume of transfers with the related lack of quality.

It mostly seems to be driven by dodgy finances than actual football decisions.

As a result it’s almost impossible to judge. I mean unless you think that a football mad nation of 60m people suddenly forgot how to play football.

Right now Milan could’ve had a core of about 8-10 youth/Italian players from players they produced over the last 10 years most of whom are currently playing for teams above them in the league (there’s 8 former youth players playing above Milan including 3xRBs (Darmian, Bellanova and Calabria)).

They have to be ‘good enough’ because they’re playing for teams above them and the league table doesn’t lie.

And if you really don’t rate Italian players why are you watching a mid-table Italian team?

      1. So, from one side of your mouth, you claim that serie A is a generally sub-standard league that is more like some dodgy dumping ground for dodgy goods and backhanders than an actual elite football league, even though serie A was by far the best league in the world 20 years ago, but your brain wont accept the reality that a mad nation of 60m people suddenly forgot how to play football. I guess they have missed 2 world cups back to back by accident.
Calabria didn’t play today for Bologna. Most of Bologna squad are players purchased over the last 2 years.
Atalanta doesn’t have many Italian players in their starting lineup, nor does Napoli, Juventus, teams ahead of Milan on the table.
If you rate Italian players why are you watching their sub standard league as you called it? Imagine that the league is so bad and yet there is so little Italian players playing in the league. Doesn’t that mean that they are not good enough to play even in a sub standard league?

        1. Huh?

Ok so assuming there hasn’t been some change in the DNA, perhaps the change that has occurred (leaving aside the Euro win) is that Italian clubs have done a terrible job developing players which has also coincided with the decline of the league.

Italian teams (like Spanish, German and English (Man City expected) teams have generally done well in Europe when they’ve had a core of Italians.

You simply repeating that all these teams don’t have Italians isn’t the winning argument you think it is, particularly with only inter (with its Italian core…shudder) being the only Italian team left in the champions league.

    2. Conte’s Napoli is a trash yet somehow he managed to (still) challenge for the title. That, without 2 of their most important players in equation.

I believe many of the fans here would love Conte as our coach beyond his tactic / playing style reasoning (altho many members here still believe he’s only able to play with 3 backs). It’s more towards his contagious mentality. And how to get the best of his players. I believe that’s what we lack most this season.

  3. This season this thing passing itself off as AC Milan handed not one but three RBs to teams who are now above them in the table.

      1. God I love this comment…I know most of the fanbase has finally come to terms with Cardinal being terrible. But I still feel like there are a few hold outs who don’t understand the ultimate goal at the top not being about winning above all else.
