Kalulu says Milan players will ‘do our best every day’ as pre-season begins

AC Milan defender Pierre Kalulu has stressed how committed the players are to having a successful first season under Paulo Fonseca with the preparations now underway.

The Rossoneri are back in training at Milanello and the work has begun for the new campaign, with Fonseca tasked with impressing his ideas upon the squad as quickly as possible.

Kalulu was interviewed by Milan TV (via Milan News) after the first session at Milanello and he explained that there is plenty of enthusiasm from the players currently available and they know how important the upcoming season is.

“There is the usual enthusiasm at the beginning, we are doing well. We all know that within our sport it is important to have a good season for the body, I hope it will be a good season for me and the whole team,” Kalulu said.

As for what it is like working under the new coach, Kalulu said that Fonseca will start explaining his ideas and the players will respond and work hard.

“We are all professionals, we came here prepared. We can already give our best. Now he will start to explain his idea of the game to us, we will do our best every day,” he said.

There was a surprising element to the training session, as there was a lot more work with the ball rather than a focus on physical preparation which is the norm so early in pre-season.

“We started playing football, we’re right in. It’s the best way to start,” he explained.

Kalulu will be looking to have a much better season than the last one given he missed the majority of it through injury.

There have been suggestions that he could leave the club but the most likely outcome is that he will remain as one of the defensive options for Fonseca.
