CM: Kalulu ready for the challenge against Osimhen – he has earned Pioli’s full trust

By Oliver Fisher -

Pierre Kalulu seems to have ditched his previous reputation of being a useful wild card for head coach Stefano Pioli because he continues to show himself as a vital resource.

Calciomercato.com reports how in the seven games in which the Frenchman played as a centre-back, Milan have conceded only four goals (one against Roma, two against Spezia and one against Inter), which is why Pioli is thinking of deploying him from the first minute in the big match on Sunday evening against Napoli.

The check up that Alessio Romagnoli had after he limped off in midweek against Inter has ruled out a serious injury and the captain will try to recover, but he is in a battle with Kalulu even if he does.

Kalulu will have to face off against Victor Osimhen on Sunday but he is not scared having passed exams against Ciro Immobile and Tammy Abraham as well as Edin Dzeko and even Alvaro Morata.

From the first day he has been training with his head down under the gaze of Pioli and Maldini, and today he has earned everyone’s trust and he has clear ideas about the future: “There is no reason to want to leave.”

  1. We should play with three defenders next season:

    Magic Mike

    Kalulu-Tomori-Bootman

    Calabria-Sanches-Tonali-Bennacer-Hernandez

    Belotti-Leao

Would bring out the best of many players, especially Hernandez and Leao and we become more mobile/flexible/less predictable.
