Kamada’s agent explains why Milan move did not end up happening

Daichi Kamada’s agent has revealed the backstory to the Japanese midfielder’s failed move to AC Milan in the summer, a saga that continued for many weeks.

Speaking to SportItalia (via HITC), Gianluca Di Carlo explained that there were a number of clubs that were trying to sign Kamada on a free transfer when it became clear that he would not be renewing his contract with Eintracht Frankfurt.

The team that seemed closest to signing the Japanese star was Milan, but there was a stalling from the club and eventually, he joined Lazio instead.

“The player was (available) on a free transfer, and many clubs had gone for him. Milan, Liverpool, Benfica, Real Sociedad (were all interested),” Di Carlo said.

He then added that the change in management is what through the deal into confusion from a Milan perspective. The agreement was with Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara, but suddenly there was a different team in place who wanted to evaluate things.

“The Rossonerichanged the management. And it appears to me that there were no longer any references to the agreements that had been made. In all this, Lazio got wind of the deal and the entourage immediately liked the idea,” Di Carlo adds.
