Sky Germany: Karetsas wants Dortmund move as directors plan trip to beat Milan – the latest

There is conflicting information emerging among German and Italian sources regarding the chase for Konstantinos Karetsas.

On Monday, Matteo Moretto reported that Milan are firmly in the race for Karetsas and that the player would actually prefer a move there rather than to Borussia Dortmund. Despite this, it is the Bundesliga side who have made official offers so far, and boast Champions League football.

Dortmund plot Karetsas blitz

Now, Sky Germany’s Patrick Berger reports that Dortmund are continuing to negotiate for their ‘dream signing’ Karetsas. According to sources, their bosses plan to travel to Genk this week to negotiate on-site with KRC Genk director Dimitri De Condé.

A solution before Dortmund’s preseason trip to Japan is the goal. The last offer was just under €30m and wasn’t enough for the Belgian side, who are demanding €35m fixed as the transfer fee and are hoping for €40m as the overall package.

BVB remain in pole position, even if Milan are also ‘showing interest’. The player and his family ‘favour a move to Dortmund’, while a verbal agreement between Karetsas and BVB is already in place over personal terms.

So, if Moretto is to be believed then Milan might have some time to get a sale done before making their advance. However, if Berger is correct, then Borussia Dortmund are firmly in the lead could have things wrapped up quite quickly.

  1. OK. Sign Stones, LWB, Goretzka/Kessie, AMRC and Icardi and get the f job done for the (this) summer, Musah and Chukwueze can stay for at least half a season or an entire season, why not? Reports say RA isn’t exactly happy and delighted with Musah (and Ricci) but that’s not so important right now given the fact we are talking about the player who wouldn’t play much anyway and who wouldn’t be anything/nothing more than the fifth or even the sixth midfielder in the pecking order, depending on the playing minutes for Comotto (I am sincerely hoping that some of those are in store for the kid and I don’t just mean (the) garbage time if we can use that term); so, we have only two good players for whom the actual fee needs to be paid to their current clubs i.e. LWB (Guerreiro is not an option due to his physical condition) and AMRC, I mean, that shouldn’t and mustn’t be a problem for ACM.

  2. Its all paper talk. His entourage/ agents likely just want a bidding war to get the best contract for their client.

In the end the guy is at Genk. Hed be happy to to any decent team of the big 5 leagues

    1. Exactly. Moretto has been super reliable so far and I believe him so this is just an attempt to start a bidding war.

    2. It has nothing to do with Dortmund developing players like Isak, Aubameyang, Dembélé, Bellingham, Sancho, Gittens, Pulisic and moving them to top clubs after? These are just the ones I could remember of the top of my head? You really think these people live in a vacuum and don’t have eyes or internet? 😀

    3. Yes, but if he’s got two teams willing to buy him he’s still going to have preferences. And the more stable team with a good history of youth development and near guaranteed UCL might be more preferable.

  3. 16.5h before this was posted, there was a news article here that read “Karetsas wants Milan move over Dortmund”

Noone believes anything until we get a “Here we go”, or a medical is scheduled.

  4. Rumor all over the web states that Karetsas prefers Milan and is willing to wait, as he rates the club way higher than Borussia. Sky Germany is lying.
