Kessie agrees Barcelona move but he wants to keep his promise to Milan first

By Oliver Fisher -

Franck Kessie is one step away from Barcelona as the Ivorian has already found an agreement with them ahead of next season, but first he has a mission with Milan.

According to Spanish sources, Kessie has already found an agreement with the Blaugrana on the basis of a €6.5m net per season, which is €1.5m more than what Milan were willing to put on the table.

As reported by our colleagues at SempreMilan.it though, Kessie first wants to win with the Rossoneri shirt before he says goodbye after five years. The first goal is to qualify as soon as possible for the Champions League and to then aim for the Scudetto if it is attainable, and even the Coppa Italia.

In the last four matches across Serie A and the cup, Kessie has shown all his ballistic and tactical skills as Stefano Pioli has called upon his strength, determination and physicality in the games against Inter, Napoli, Empoli and Cagliari.

He has produced high-quality performances and now he wants to continue on this path until the end of the season. In short, Kessie is close to leaving but he wants to keep the promises made when he joined to win something for the fans before leaving Milanello.

  1. Hmm, kessie is game as going down and he is not put is all in games like that, but I like him for what he as done for Milan, I know he as not given us cups but is time as a Milan is up.

  2. His promise was “dont worry,i will sign the contract as soon as i come back from my national team deauty” ,that was 2 years ago before he got wishper in his ear by menager, end of storry,he didnt keep his promise

  3. i am still hopeful he can re-sign with us this year
no matter what happen i will miss Il presidente i love players who give it all in the field ,
i hope maldini re-open the negotiations with his agent because franck kessie is important player at the end of day

    1. Sorry, there’s nothing to renegotiate. You don’t do business with people who can’t keep their word. Kessie is not irreplaceable.

Hopefully, Kamara comes in free from Marseille. Along with the incoming Adli, returning Pobega and the dynamic duo of Bennacer and Tonali with the possible addition of Renato Sanches and the manageable Krunic, Milan is more than covered.

  4. Well, his promise at the start of the season was to stay … However, given that in the post-pandemic market players leaving for free is a bigger norm so if he does help Milan win before going, more respect to him, unlike Donnaruma or Hakan who simply betrayed the club. We have seen Kessie grow from a player who could barely place a pass a few years ago to someone who is much more assured and imposing on the pitch.

It’s perhaps time for both the club and player to move on given that Elliot’s philosophy is working with maintaining a lower wage bill while bringing success on the pitch.

    1. He is as treacherous as Dollarumma and the Turkish Kebab. After all they both contributed in getting Milan to Champions League.

Milan winning the Scudetto is not down to Kessie. He’s just an average player and his contributions are not more than Krunic or even Samu. Goodbye to garbage.

  5. Paid advert. He is leaving already. If Tonalli was not ill and Diaz firing on all cylinders, he would be warming the bench with romagnoli. I do not see what the buzz is about. Maldini would not bend the rules for him, he is not IBRA. He overestimated his own importance. I pray tonalli and bennacer stay fit and are only rested when exhausted.
I wish him all the best in barca, though I believe his agent has sold him short for a €10m in commissions. He is not technical enough for Barca’s tiki taka. Spurs would have suited his more physical game. Greed has a blinding effect. He should have just said nothing when asked about staying at Milan. He goofed obviously knowing he was not staying

Also, I read it here that Milan offered him 8m plus bonuses and he asked for $10m. Now we read Milan’s offer was 4.5m, so those who wrote earlier reports, where did they get their info? Fake news?

Let him leave as he wants, we will be fine. Its not his form this year that brought us this far! His performances have been average at best.

    1. If he got what he wanted from Milan, he would have became a VERY expensive backup player as he’s not good enough. And Milan wouldn’t have been able to sell him either (just look at Castillejo).

      This was the right decision.

  6. Elliot are so lucky Maldini is amazing otherwise their cheap nature would be crushing us rather than have us fighting for the scudetto. Nobody scouts like Paolo.

  7. other player came to mind….Lukaku, was “the cock of the walk” at Inter, goes to Chelsea and so-so. Kessie was way better last year, and seems to be at least fininshing this year better than he started at. He’ll be gone and it will be interesting to see how Xavi uses him, maybe end up riding the bench.

  8. Elliott Management is a hedge fund firm, they are/will sell their investment in A C M when the value is the highest. Buy low /sell high is their mantra. They will only cough up money when it guarantees a higher return. It is all about numbers and algorithems. Bye bye Franck……but before you go play your best football ever

    1. Yes, let’s completely ignore the FFP Settlement Agreement that we are working under and whose terms we actually failed to meet. It’s all Elliott’s fault.

      1. Haha yeah there’s a few of us that think running a football club in real life is just as simple as running one on fifa. All Elliott has done is improve Milan and fools be acting like Milan were better off without them.

Idk maybe they all are bandwagon fans and haven’t been fallowing the team the last ten years or maybe they are all Inter fans trying to troll and talk 💩

  9. Found an agreement but havnt sign yet. Lol! he is waiting for next higher bid. His words is worth at best toilet paper

  10. It is okay. Player come and go. As long as he stay professional in last 8 match serie A and semifinal Coppa should be enough. He will be forgiven by fans if AC Milan win Scudetto and Coppa italy

  11. It is part of football. As long as Kessie stays professional and keep playing hard until the end of the season, I don’t mind if he leaves soon.

  12. Talking about betrayal, i think you watch too much telenovela guys. If we win a scudetto this season, I will forget anything. I will celebrate with all current Milan player who have worked hard to win the scudetto. Including kessie and romagnoli, where ever they will be next season.

  13. after last year I realized no player is more than the club. When a player like Donnaruma can leave Milan for free(whom we developed and whom we gave opportunity) then no wonder others are leaving for free. Let them go… We are Milan and we will always be the club of class and legends…

  14. We said this before many times: we hate to see him go, but there’s no regrets.
If he think he deserves more, let him go elsewhere.

The most important thing now is to focus on the rest of the season and fight till death for the scudetto. And we need Kessie for that.
