Kessie discusses Scudetto fight with Inter as he declares: “We are here to achieve results”

AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie is not expecting an easy game this afternoon as the Rossoneri take on Benevento.

Milan face a particularly tricky task on Sunday evening against a team that they are yet to beat in Italy’s top flight. Theo Hernandez is suspended while Matteo Gabbia, Ismael Bennacer, Alexis Saelemaekers and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are injured for the first game of 2021.

Milan head to Benevento knowing that a win will see them keep top spot in the Serie A table, but with Inter beating Crotone it means it has to be three points or they will lose it.

It will be an anything but comfortable game against a side managed by club legend Pippo Inzaghi and one who have recovered from an early season slump.

Kessie spoke to Sky Italia before the game at the Stadio Ciro Vigorito, with his words transcribed by MilanNews.

On the Scudetto fight with Inter: “We think about ourselves and our game which won’t be easy. There is no easy game. We have to fight today to get a result.”

On the numerous absences: “There are a lot of players missing but we are here to achieve results. We have to play for those who are not with us and fight for them.”

On the new year: “2020 was a perfect year for us, as the coach said, but we haven’t won any trophies. We don’t have to go to the past but to the present and the future and give our best.”
