Tijjani Reijnders has been one of the standouts at Euro 2024 and while this is far from surprising to AC Milan fans, many are discovering the midfielder for the first. Tonight, he will play arguably the most important game of his career.
Due to several injuries in midfield, Ronald Koeman gave Reijnders an important role from the first game and the Milan man has responded in style. Making the most of his abilities on the ball, while also showcasing great movement, he has impressed everyone.
Tonight, his Netherlands will be up against England and it’s a very difficult game to call in advance. While one could argue that the Oranje have looked better playing-wise, Gareth Southgate’s men will be feeling confident after the penalty shoot-out win against Switzerland.
Reijdners will play an important role, that’s for sure, and this will certainly be the biggest game in his career so far. With Mike Maignan and Theo Hernandez eliminated from the competition, the midfielder is also the only Milan man still with a chance of reaching the Euros final.
The game is scheduled for 21:00 CEST and it should be an existing one, though it might be hard to top the Spain-Franca game from last night.
Reijnders is a good well-rounded player but, as a cental midfielder, he is not yet at the level of Tonali or pre-injury Bennacer, nor is he at the level of Diaz as an attacking midfielder. He was sold to the fans as an upgrade, a lie the media seems keen on pushing, but he hasn’t filled any of the voids left in our midfield. To be fair, his supporting cast in midfield haven’t been great either and he has improved over the course of the season and during the Euros. He still needs to take the next step and have an impact against better opposition so England will be a proper test. I really hope he does well. He has all the necessary tools.
Just read Roma news today, they said Milan management want to sell Reijnders to Roma, is that correct?
Roma news…. LMAO!!!
