AC Milan produced a scintillating comeback against Hellas Verona on Sunday night as they came from a goal down to win 3-1.
It was the Sandro Tonali show as he scored a brace on his birthday to turn the game on its head after Faraoni opened the scoring, and Alessandro Florenzi marked his return from injury with a brilliant half-volley to seal a 3-1 win. Below are the best stats from the win from the official website…
➤ Milan have reached the 80-point mark in Serie A for the first time since 2011-12 (also 80, but after 38 games).
➤ Milan have now come from behind to win four Serie A games this season; two of these were against Verona (the others against Lazio on 24 April and against Inter on 5 February).
➤ Sandro Tonali is the first Milan player ever to have scored two or more goals in a Serie A game on his birthday.
➤ The Italian starlet is also the youngest midfielder to have scored five or more goals in Serie A this season (and the second-youngest among all players, older only than Bologna’s Aaron Hickey).
➤ Prior to Rafael Leão, the last Milan player to have delivered two assists to the same player in a Serie A match was Rade Krunić, to Ante Rebić against Torino on 12 May 2021.
➤ Furthermore, the Portuguese forward has now scored the most goals (ten) and delivered the joint-most assists (six, alongside Theo Hernández) for Milan in Serie A this season.
➤ Alessandro Florenzi found the net just one minute and 59 seconds after coming off the bench, the fastest goal scored by a substitute for Milan in Serie A this season.
