In recent months, Leon Goretzka has been heavily linked with a move to Serie A. AC Milan have pushed hard, but they are not alone.
Before the January window, it seemed Milan were considering a move for Goretzka in the final window that a fee would be needed. His contract with Bayern expires in the summer, and in an attempt to beat the competition, they were happy to pay a fee.
Talks did not progress much and it seemed like he may slip away at the end of the month, with Atlético Madrid almost signing him. Yet, he opted to see out his contract in Bavaria before pursuing a new opportunity.
Khedira opposes Goretzka move
The links to Milan have not disappeared since then and he remains one of the top options for the mercato for the summer. However, they are not alone in their appreciation and Juventus are also considering a move.
Speaking on the matter, fellow German and former Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira spoke to Sky about a move for him, via MilanNews.
“Goretzka for Milan or Juve? A great person, a strong player. But a young player who comes through the youth system is better.”
Considering the discourse around Italian football’s usage of young players, it is an understandable wish.

Kessie is free too, younger, cheaper & expd in serie A
Yeah lest sign someone who hasn’t played high level football for at least 3 years instead of signing someone that features regularly for Bayern freaking Munich.
Fans were saying the same about signing Modric, and Modric might be Milan’s best player.
Give me Goretzka. Kessie can stay where he is at.
Even Khedira knows it’s a dumb move. We want to build a 101 year old midfield 3 and pair it up with 37yr old Lewandowski
