Kicker: Milan do not hold interest in Turkish defender despite reports

By Euan Burns -

Despite reports claiming otherwise, AC Milan are not currently pursuing a move for Hoffenheim defender Ozan Kabak.

According to German magazine Kicker (via Pianeta Milan), the reports in recent days from La Repubblica were false in their claims that Kabak is a target for Milan to bolster the defensive depth.

Given Simon Kjaer has been struggling with injuries over the past two seasons, there is a desire at Milan to have another central defender who can be counted on throughout the season.

One of the reasons why a deal for Kabak may not work is that he would likely demand more minutes in the first-team than he can get at Milan with Fikayo Tomori, Malick Thiaw and Pierre Kalulu in the squad.

The primary target linked with Milan for the central defence is Clement Lenglet from Barcelona, who was on loan at Tottenham Hotspur last season. That is a more ambitious deal from a financial perspective.

  1. They’re saying that Milan might renew Krunic when fenerbahce are offering him 3.5M a season. If this is real by peppe Di Stefano, the management are dense for giving a awful bench player a 3-4M contract when he’s only going to decline further past 30

    1. Awful bench player? I am not Krunic biggest supporter, and i do think Milan should take the money and upgrade, but awful? Nah.
He was a starter for most of the season last year. Matter fact Milan midfield started looking decent once Bennacer lost his spot and Krunic took over from him next to Tonali.
      He is currently a starter.
So he wasn’t a bench player last season, nor is he now.
He was a starter towards the end of the 2021/22 season when Milan was making the final push for the scudetto. In the last 5,6,7 games Pioli decided to bench Brahim and play with 3 defensive midfielders, and those 3 DM’s were Kessie, Tonali and Krunic, not Bennacer.
From the midfielders Milan had in the last 5+ years, Krunic was as important for Milan as Bennacer, but far behind Kessie, Tonali and Hakan.
Not a great player by any stretch of the imagination but far from awful

    2. Latest news on trusted Milannews.it, says Fenerbahce is accelerating for Krunic and trying to finish his move, according to Nexus Sport.

“Fenerbahce accelera per Krunic e vorrebbe chiudere subito”

Unfortunately also says they are still in for Dominguez, but i doubt Domignuez wants to leave Italy.

Don’t see anything on the site about a renewal, but maybe I missed it.

    1. Longo and Di Stefano both have said Milan are trying to convince Krunic to stay even with a pay rise I just hope Krunic tells them he wants to leave tbh, this is our last chance and only chance at getting good money for him

      1. Haven’t seen any indication of that from the latest news. And those two aren’t exactly reliable. I’m often on milannews.it but it’s Italian only source.
