MN: Kirovski key to Milan beating Chelsea and Sporting to Guernier signing

AC Milan completed a deal to sign Aurelien Guernier earlier this week and Jovan Kirovski was reportedly key in the process.

Plenty has been said about the new Futuro signing this week, mainly because it is a distraction from the other issues facing Milan. Indeed, it is something positive when most of the talk is negative, where the first team is concerned.

Kirovski’s impact

According to MilanNews, the Rossoneri were not the only ones interested in Guernier. A versatile attacker that can play anywhere behind the striker, he possesses ‘excellent technique and good vision’.

Indeed, Chelsea (and Strasbourg, through the BlueCo links) were the main competitors for the youngster’s signature. However, Sporting were also looking to get a deal done. Instead, he headed to Casa Milan to get his new contract signed.

The deal was actually brokered by Kirovski – who has been linked with a step-up to the Diavolo’s first-team – and then it was finalised by stand-in CEO Massimo Calvelli, with the deal closing without a fee.

It seems the plan is to develop him in the Futuro system, given he is still young at 18-years-old. Interestingly, though, he will train with the first team through the season and he could look to impress Ruben Amorim early on.

  1. Futuro is a joke. He brings one good player in, but loses 3 in the meantime. NO integration system whatsoever. Unless Kostic plays with the first team, he will leave too.
