Kjaer admits identity crisis at Milan: “We must apologise to the fans”

Just like many of his teammates, Simon Kjaer had a tough evening in AC Milan’s 3-0 loss against Inter in the Supercoppa Italiana. Speaking to the media afterwards, he immediately apologised to the fans.

The Rossoneri headed into the game with hopes of bouncing back from a tough start to 2023, with three consecutive games without a win. However, instead they sank even deeper and lost as questionable defending resulted in three conceded goals.

Kjaer had a tough evening and didn’t hide the inadequacy in his interview with MilanTV after the game, as cited by MilanNews. He admitted that Milan must take a hard look at themselves and apologise to the fans.

First thoughts…

“We started badly, then it became difficult. They are good at what they do, but tonight we didn’t put the performance down as deserved. We have to look back, and apologise to the fans. We have to analyze this game and then start over, there’s no time to settle down but this game hurts.”

On the many youngsters…

“The young players narrative is over. We have to grow up and take responsibility, we haven’t put our identity and we have to learn. It was a tough evening, especially mentally, but these moments we have to find our identity,” he stated.

Milan will take on Lazio in their next game and it will be played on Tuesday next week. In other words, they have many days to work on their weaknesses and, frankly, it’s a must-win for them unlike anything we have seen for a long time.
