Kjaer praises ‘compact’ Milan for defensive effort vs. Napoli: “I feel alive”

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan defender Simon Kjaer admitted that he feels ‘alive’ on Champions League nights such as the one last night as the Rossoneri beat Napoli 1-0.

Milan will take a one-goal lead to Naples next week as they beat the Partenopei by a solitary goal at San Siro in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final. Ismael Bennacer thundered a shot in at the near post to finish off a break for the only goal of the game.

Kjaer certainly played a big part in the success as well, with he and captain Davide Calabria doing a great job of shutting down the away side’s main threat Khvicha Kvaratskhelia down the right hand side.

The Dane spoke to Mediaset after the game to reflect on a good night of work, with his comments relayed by MilanNews, and he started by admitting that he feels like he can rise to the biggest occasions.

“I feel alive. I have found a good way to feel good on the pitch these evenings. We have everything to win and everything to lose: there is it’s a big charge,” he said.

Milan haven’t conceded a goal against Napoli for two games…

“The team must play compact, the work of the forwards is important because it helps us. They have a lot of quality.”
